British actor Tim Curry<\/a> has recalled lying to Ivana Trump while staying at the then Donald Trump<\/a>-owned Plaza Hotel during the filming of the 1992 Christmas classic \u201cHome Alone 2: Lost In New York,\u201d in which Donald Trump made a cameo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a new interview with The Guardian<\/a> published Tuesday, Curry said Ivana, who died in 2022 at age 73, asked his opinion of the property\u2019s decor. She had overseen its lavish remodeling<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe knocked on my door and said, \u2018Are you happy in your room? Do you like the way it looks?\u2019\u201d recalled Curry. \u201cAnd I loathed it actually.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Curry, now 79, played the Plaza\u2019s concierge<\/a> in the movie sequel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the same interview promoting his memoir \u201cVagabond,\u201d which he penned after being left partially paralyzed following a severe stroke in 2012, the actor also remembered Donald Trump himself being \u201cvery anxious\u201d to get his then-girlfriend Marla Maples (he\u2019d split from Ivana) an introduction to the film\u2019s director, Chris Columbus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Curry said: \u201cHe told me, \u2018I\u2019ve got to get Marla to meet Chris Columbus because she\u2019s a brilliant actress.\u2019 And I thought: \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m sure.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Trump\u2019s brief cameo saw Macaulay Culkin\u2019s Kevin McCallister ask him for directions to the lobby. Columbus has claimed Trump\u2019s appearance was a condition of filming at the Plaza. Trump, though, has insisted the filmmakers were \u201cbegging me to make a cameo\u201d and he agreed despite being \u201cvery busy\u201d and not really wanting to.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
