Paramount Pictures<\/a> has renewed its exclusive, multi-year production deal with veteran film executive Walter Hamada<\/a>\u2019s 18Hz Productions.<\/p>\n

Under the deal, Hamada<\/a>, whose producing credits include \u201cThe Conjuring<\/a>\u201d franchise, \u201cIt\u201d and \u201cThe Batman<\/a>,\u201d will continue to focus on the horror genre, delivering multiple low-to-mid-budget films annually for the studio.<\/p>\n

News of the renewal comes as Paramount<\/a> launches the trailer for 18Hz Productions\u2019 upcoming horror film \u201cPrimate<\/a>.\u201d The movie \u2014 directed by Johannes Roberts<\/a> and starring Johnny Sequoyah<\/a>, Jessica Alexander<\/a> and Troy Kotsur<\/a> \u2014 follows as a group of friends\u2019 tropical vacation turns into a terrifying, primal tale of horror and survival when the family\u2019s adopted chimp abruptly turns homicidal.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrimate<\/a>\u201d made its world premiere as the opening night screening at Fantastic Fest last month and the film \u2014 which also features Victoria Wyant<\/a>, Gia Hunter<\/a>, Benjamin Cheng<\/a>, Charlie Mann<\/a> and Tienne Simon<\/a> \u2014 will be released in theaters on Jan. 9.<\/p>\n
