Even if producers hadn\u2019t decided not to send anyone home<\/a> on this week\u2019s Dancing With the Stars<\/a><\/em> episode, we sincerely doubt that Andy Richter<\/a> and his pro partner Emma Slater<\/a> would have been sent packing, despite their low scores that landed them at the bottom of the leaderboard.<\/p>\n The two struck an emotional chord with the audience this week<\/a> as they danced a salsa to Harry Belafonte<\/a>\u2018s \u201cJump in the Line.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>The duo\u2019s endearing routine was made all the more sentimental with the addition of Richter\u2019s daughter, Cornelia, who performed with her father and Slater on Dedication Night.<\/p>\n While Richter and Slater are at the bottom of the leaderboard with 24 points going into next week\u2019s show, the couple is a reminder that viewer votes can make all the difference.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve seen low-rated duos tango their way to the finals. Might Slater be looking at another Bill Engvall<\/a> season? As longtime fans of the show recall, Slater, in her first season (Season 17), was paired with the sitcom star\/comic. Viewer votes \u2013 not scores \u2013 helped propel the charming couple to the finals where they finished in fourth place!<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I stopped to think about it, I realized there are<\/em> a lot of similarities,\u201d Slater told TV Insider. \u201cBill is one of my favorite people in the world, and now, Andy is as well. He is well-liked and he and Bill are both funny, but they\u2019re also genuine. They\u2019re loyal. They have big hearts and they\u2019re able to be open and vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n Is Richter familiar with Engvall\u2019s DWTS<\/em> journey? \u201cI am,\u201d said the actor, deadpanning, \u201cHe\u2019s an old guy that nobody thought would go very far.\u201d<\/p>\n Judge Carrie Ann Inaba<\/a> complimented Richter on Dedication Night, telling him she\u2019s seeing improvement in his performances. \u201cI thought that was great,\u201d Richter says. \u201cI\u2019m happy to continue on and I\u2019m happy to have [another] week behind me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m trying as hard as I can to learn this thing that I didn\u2019t know about however many weeks ago,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m starting from scratch and, of course, I\u2019m not going to be as good as a lot of the people here are, but I am<\/em> going to try to keep trying and I\u2019m going to keep at it. It only makes sense that I\u2019m going to get better.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very glad that [the judges] see the improvement that I\u2019m making and I feel the improvement,\u201d Richter continued. \u201cEmma\u2019s such a great teacher and such a great coach.\u201d<\/p>\n Emma\u2019s choreography has highlighted instances in which the camera captures Ritcher\u2019s winning smile. How does she come up with those moments? \u201cI don\u2019t have to do very much,\u201d Slater revealed. \u201cIf I tell Andy where the camera is and I tell him that \u2018the character of the dance is this,\u2019 and where the camera is, he knows what to do.
