The Broadway League, representing producers and theater owners, is demanding wage cuts, reduced job opportunities, and threats to our healthcare benefits, on the heels of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayleague.com\/press\/press-releases\/broadways-2024-2025-season-wraps-with-147-million-attendances-and-grosses-of-189-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">most successful season in Broadway history<\/a>, which yielded $1.89 billion in grosses and an attendance of 14.7 million theatergoers.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Smith, a horn player for the past 28 years at \u201cThe Lion King,\u201d said \u201cat a time of healthy revenues on Broadway, we are simply asking the producers to allow us to continue to support our families through adequate salaries and health insurance and to respect the hard work that goes into making eight shows per week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Broadway musicians of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.local802afm.org\/2025\/10\/broadway-musicians-overwhelmingly-vote-to-authorize-strike-if-needed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">AFM Local 802<\/a> have voted 98% in favor of a strike authorization if terms cannot be met.
