The Red, White & Royal Blue<\/a> sequel has officially been announced! And, what\u2019s more, the film has a brand new title, Red, White & Royal Wedding<\/em>.<\/p>\n That\u2019s not all: Jamie Babbit has been announced as the sequel\u2019s director. Thankfully, the film<\/a> will see the return of both Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz respectively.<\/p>\n Red, White & Royal Blue<\/em> proved to be a smash-hit success when it debuted on Prime Video in 2023. Galitzine plays closeted British royal Prince Henry and Zakhar Perez portrays Alex Claremont-Diaz, the bisexual son of a female US president, who go from enemies to lovers.<\/p>\n Red, White & Royal Wedding<\/em> was given the green light by Amazon MGM Studios on Wednesday (15 October). <\/p>\n As well as Babbit being announced as the film\u2019s director, taking over from Matthew L\u00f3pez<\/a> who directed Red, White & Royal Blue<\/em>, it was confirmed that the film has been written by L\u00f3pez, Gemma Burgess, as well as the author of the novel Red, White & Royal Blue<\/a><\/em>, Casey McQuiston<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n The news was also announced via the Red, White & Royal Blue<\/em> Instagram account. Sharing a screenshot of the news on Instagram<\/a> Zakhar Perez added, \u201cHold on, I need a second.\u201d<\/p>\n Julie Rapaport, the head of film, production, and development at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement, \u201cAfter seeing the incredible outpouring of love for\u00a0Red, White & Royal Blue<\/em>\u00a0from fans around the world, it\u2019s clear Alex and Henry\u2019s story truly resonated with audiences.\u201d Rapaport added, \u201cwe can\u2019t wait to bring fans an unforgettable new chapter in their love story.\u201d<\/p>\n L\u00f3pez shared his own excitement at the news adding, \u201cIt\u2019s been a blast to dream up the next chapter,\u201d of Alex and Henry\u2019s story. Meanwhile, McQuiston said, \u201cWorking with this team to bring\u00a0Red, White & Royal Blue<\/em>\u00a0to life has been a dream come true, and I hope readers and watchers alike will love how the story continues in the sequel.\u201d<\/p>\n And Babbit expressed her delight at returning to the \u201cqueer love universe.\u201d She said, \u201cAfter directing\u00a0But I\u2019m a Cheerleader<\/em>\u00a0in my 20s, I\u2019m thrilled to be back in the queer love universe of\u00a0Red, White & Royal Wedding<\/em>. They will be joined by Michael McGrath, Matthew L\u00f3pez, Jennifer Salke, Casey McQuiston, and Michael Constable.<\/p>\n The last film ended with Alex and Henry\u2019s relationship being made public by an old flame of Alex\u2019s and the pair defying the fictional take on the British royal family to be open about their relationship publicly. Alex\u2019s mum, President Ellen Claremont (Uma Thurman), also won a second term as president and Alex and Henry celebrated their happy ending.<\/p>\n Praised by audiences and critics alike, there were soon demands for a sequel<\/a>. News of a\u00a0second film was announced last year<\/a>, despite there being no book on which to base it. Galitzine<\/a>,\u00a0Zakhar Perez<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Thurman<\/a>\u00a0were all set to return. The last we heard was from McQuiston who in August<\/a> said \u201cour pencils are down,\u201d which left fans confused. <\/p>\n While plot details for Red, White & Royal Wedding<\/em> remain scarce, McQuiston has previously teased<\/a> what fans can expect from the sequel.
