After coming under fire for his comments about the representation of same-sex couples onscreen, Snoop Dogg has made an effort to support LGBTQ+ youth on a new song, \u201cLove Is Love.\u201d<\/p>\n
The track, a collaboration with former The Voice<\/em> contestant Jeremy Beloate, was featured in the latest episode of Snoop\u2019s animated children\u2019s YouTube series, Doggyland<\/em>. The song has been released in partnership with advocacy group GLAAD to celebrate Spirit Day,\u00a0an annual initiative that harnesses influential voices to stand against the bullying of LGBTQ+ youth and families.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n GLAAD shared a conversation between Snoop and Beloate about the track. \u201cIt\u2019s beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks and be shown love, to be taught what love is,\u201d Snoop said in the clip. \u201cBeing able to have parents from all walks of life, whether it be two fathers, two mothers \u2014 whatever it is, love is the key.\u201d<\/p>\n He added of creating the song, \u201cIt\u2019s teaching parenthood. It\u2019s teaching situations that kids in the world is going through right now in a beautiful way through song, dance, melody, just trying to get more clarity on how we live and the way we live. And I felt like this music is a beautiful bridge to bringing understanding. These are things that kids have questions about so now hopefully we can help answer these questions and help them to live a happy life and understand that love is love.\u201d<\/p>\n The upbeat \u201cLove Is Love\u201d is geared towards kids, and was specifically written to be part of the Doggyland<\/em> episode. In the episode, Beloate makes a special appearance as a puppy named Zippy while Snoop voices regular character Bow Wizzle.<\/p>\n \u201cOur parents are different\/ No two are the same\/ But the one thing that\u2019s for certain is the love won\u2019t change,\u201d the characters sing. \u201cFamilies are special\/ They are so unique\/ Everybody\u2019s got a purpose, more than what you see\/ We love you, parents\/ We love you so.\u201d<\/p>\n In August, Snoop Dogg complained about the appearance<\/a> of a same-sex couple in Disney film Lightyear <\/em>during an interview on the It\u2019s Giving\u2026 Podcast<\/em>. \u201cThey move on into the space years, and as they move down the line they\u2019re like, \u2018Then, she had a baby with a woman,\u2019\u201d Snoop said. \u201cNow, my grandson, in the middle of the movie, is like, \u2018Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She\u2019s a woman.\u2019 Ah shit, I didn\u2019t come in here for this shit.
