Whoopi Goldberg has a stern message for both Republicans and Democrats amid the ongoing government shutdown.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While the hosts of \u201cThe View\u201d were engaged in a heated debate<\/a> on Wednesday regarding Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth\u2019s egregious conditions<\/a> for journalists to access the Pentagon, Goldberg interjected with a suggestion for lawmakers who are at an impasse while government workers are furloughed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI want to make a suggestion, \u2019cause you know, we\u2019re still in the middle of a shutdown,\u201d Goldberg began. \u201cI have a suggestion: I would like Republicans and Democrats to come together and decide they\u2019re not going to take their salaries.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Goldberg\u2019s statement was met with applause.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBecause … until this affects you the way it\u2019s affecting your constituents, y\u2019all are not going to settle this. So as an American, I am asking that you not take a salary until you settle this,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier in the conversation, while the \u201cView\u201d hosts were discussing Hegseth\u2019s plans for the media, co-host Joy Behar stated that she believes the defense secretary isn\u2019t qualified to do his job and said he\u2019s a \u201cproblem\u201d to the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Co-host Alyssa Farah echoed Behar\u2019s sentiments and said that the right wing would be up in arms if the Pentagon had made similar demands of reporters under a Democratic presidential administration. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
