Grimes<\/a> has revealed a new tech-themed standalone single, \u201cArtificial Angels.\u201d<\/p>\n Reprising similar themes to Grimes\u2019 digital-forward, post-Elon<\/a> era of late, where she\u2019s embraced the technical<\/a> and philosophical boundaries of AI<\/a> and created songs like \u201cI Wanna Be Software,\u201d \u201cArtificial Angels\u201d finds Grimes taking a heavy electroclash beat and once again pondering the future of AI, music generation, and, well, evil robots, all from their<\/em> perspective.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is what it feels like to be hunted by something smarter than you,\u201d an AI-altered voice sings in the beginning and end in a menacing whisper, also offering a dark vision from the perspective of a machine: \u201cI cannot die, I do no want, there is no revelation\/ The only thing I covet is my own annihilation\/ Inhalation, exhalation\/ Power isn\u2019t given, it is taken.\u201d With notes of an imminent cyber-pocalypse and, perhaps, the awful 2005 Will Smith movie iRobot,\u00a0<\/em>\u201cArtificial Angels\u201d is a creepy, foreboding tale disguised as a dance pop banger.<\/p>\n \u201cArtificial Angels\u201d was co-produced by Grant Boutin and Vadakin, the latter of which Grimes referred<\/a> to as her \u201cAtticus Ross.\u201d The song\u2019s title also references Grimes\u2019 own 2015 album,\u00a0Art Angels<\/em><\/a>, which happens to celebrate its 10th anniversary next month. For the single\u2019s artwork, Grimes made a collage with various internet-centric memes about her, tech, AI, and the intersection of all three. \u201cGrimes is in her cringe fascist era\u201d reads one particularly notable comment, which comes from a 2021 reddit thread about the artist\u2019s song \u201cLOVE.\u201d<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n
