\n\tSince first rising as a solo artist with his 1996 self-titled debut project, Donnie McClurkin <\/a>has invigorated and redefined Gospel and worship music with songs such as \u201cI Call You Faithful,\u201d \u201cWait on the Lord\u201d (with Karen Clark Sheard), \u201cStand\u201d and \u201cGreat Is Your Mercy.\u201d Along the way, he\u2019s earned 10 Stellar Awards and two BET Awards.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow the triple Grammy winner is stepping away from recording music, but not without a final goodbye. \u201cBetter Afterwhile,\u201d the first song from McClurkin\u2019s upcoming final recorded project, comes out today (Oct. 17).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a byproduct of the times that we\u2019re living in,\u201d McClurkin tells Billboard<\/em> of the song. \u201cI just wanted to help encourage everybody that no matter how bad times are, it\u2019s going to get better after a while. Nothing remains the same and the different situations that we\u2019re going through as a nation and a world, there needs to be some kind of encouragement to let them know that we\u2019ve been through hard times before and we made it through.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcClurkin\u2019s new song previews FINALLY!<\/em>, McClurkin\u2019s last studio album and first since 2016\u2019s The Journey<\/em>. The set, recorded at TBN Studios in Hendersonville, Tennessee, will come out next year on Camdon Music\/Fair Trade Services.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEvery good thing has to come to an end sooner or later,\u201d McClurkin says of the decision to record his final project. \u201cThe Bible says you\u2019ve got to learn how to number your days, and when it comes to the point through prayer that it\u2019s time to move on, then you move. Our discography is solid. I just think that when you go out, you have to go out on top. When the Lord gives you the inclination that you\u2019ve achieved your goal, then you can sit back, look at it and say, \u2018Well done.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUnder the banner of \u201cBringing Gospel Back to Gospel Music,\u201d FINALLY<\/em>! will feature a mix of new songs as well as classics, including \u201cWhat a Mighty God\u201d and \u201cThe Solid Rock.\u201d The project was produced by Trent Phillips and Tre\u2019 Corley, with McClurkin as co-producer and Jerard Woods as co-producer\/vocal producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt 65, McClurkin may be gearing up to deliver one last landmark recording, but he\u2019s brimming with goals for the years ahead.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe says he will continue to play occasional concerts including the United in Sound Festival at Carnegie Hall on Jan. 24. He remains the senior pastor at Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York, and hosts the radio program The Donnie McClurkin Radio Show<\/em>, heard in over 65 markets nationwide. <\/p>\n

\n\tHe also continues his work providing housing for those in need in areas including New York and Jamaica. The latter is with Food for the Poor. \u201cSo far, we\u2019ve built three houses and every year, we are going to put two more houses in,\u201d McClurkin says.<\/p>\n
