Clint Black<\/a><\/strong> is reflecting on making history with his debut album Killin\u2019 Time, and the full-circle connection it gave him to country legend Hank Williams Sr<\/strong>.<\/a> At 63, Black sat down with The Bobbycast host Bobby Bones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Black, whose last new album was 2020\u2019s Out of Sane, is set to tour in 2026. Talking with the Nashville\u2011based Bones, he got real about what it felt like to have his first two singles land at No. 1 and No. 2 on the charts, approaching the feat with his humble humor.<\/p>\n When asked about following up his June 1989 debut single \u201cA Better Man\u201d with \u201cKillin\u2019 Time\u201d\u2014his first No. 1\u2014Black reflected:<\/p>\n \u201cit was stepping off already on the 1st floor so “Killin\u2019 Time” shot up there. “Better Man” and “Killin\u2019 Time” were the number one and two singles of the year, which hadn\u2019t happened in 34 years\u2014the last time was Hank Sr. with “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and “Kaw-Liga.”<\/p>\n While still in awe of the accomplishment, Black\u2019s personal connection to Hank Williams Sr. made his debut singles\u2019 success even more meaningful. He said he performed \u201cYour Cheatin\u2019 Heart\u201d \u201ca million times\u201d in bars:<\/p>\n \u201cI had a historical connection to, you know, one of the greatest country artist-songwriters of all time, and I felt it.\u201d<\/p>\n Black may marvel at sharing country music stats with a legend like Hank Williams Sr., but he has become a legend in his own right. The Texas native has released 14 studio albums, eight compilation albums, one live album, and one EP.<\/p>\n Clint Black has sold over 20 million albums<\/a> worldwide and scored 22 No. 1 singles.
