Legendary singer Neil Diamond announced back in 2018 that he was battling Parkinson\u2019s disease, and in the years that have passed since he has lived mostly out of the spotlight. <\/p>\n
But that changed for a brief and beautiful moment recently when he was honored with the Inspirational Lifetime Achievement Award at the 39th Annual Carousel Ball. The \u201cSweet Caroline\u201d singer didn\u2019t just show up to get the award, he stunned fans by performing his iconic song alongside Broadway star Nick Fradiani, according to Men\u2019s Journal. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been through it all now, and I\u2019m still coming back for more,\u201d Diamond said while accepting the award.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember being a 15 year old in Brooklyn and dreaming of a day like this,\u201d he added. \u201cMy sincere thanks to Barbara and Dana (Davis) for including me in this beautiful evening. I\u2019m proud to be a champion for this cause and grateful to be part of a night that brings hope to so many. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Diamond was given the award for his continued service to the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes as well as what he has done for type 1 diabetes care and research. <\/p>\n
Men\u2019s Journal noted<\/b><\/a> that Diamond was diagnosed with diabetes prior to his Parkinson\u2019s diagnosis. <\/p>\n The award was nice, but the performance moved folks, and video shared to TikTok<\/b><\/a> drew plenty of emotional responses. <\/p>\n \u201cHis voice is still amazing!\u201d one person replied. \u201cWhat a blessing he is!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhat a treasure he is!\u201d another wrote. <\/p>\n \u201cMy heart is exploding\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cA musical treasure,\u201d another replied. \u201cStill sharing his talent.
