NEW MILFORD \u2013 Sections of downtown\u00a0New Milford<\/a> are being used to film Myke Furhman’s<\/a> new drama “Lady America,” according to town officials.<\/p>\n While the film’s storyline and release date have not yet been disclosed, Mayor Pete Bass<\/a>\u00a0said filming for “Lady America” started Tuesday and will continue through Oct. 27, depending on the weather.<\/p>\n “They’re going to be shooting for two weeks both here on the green and Bank Street,” Bass said. “They did have for one of the shoots one of the actresses on a horse that was going down the green and a little bit on Bank Street.”<\/p>\n He said there will also be some filming on Main Street.<\/p>\n Sections of Bank Street are expected to be closed to traffic during filming, though no road closures have been announced, Bass said.<\/p>\n Furhman, a New Milford native and Emmy Award winner,\u00a0could not be reached for comment about his new film.<\/p>\n He previously directed the horror film “Candlewood”<\/a>, which was filmed in New Milford in 2022 and included legends about the area. It starred Joel Bryant, who was in “Monk”; Lisann Valentine from “The Blacklist”; and Jeffrey Alan Solon from “Founders Day”.<\/p>\n Furhman wrote\u00a0“Candlewood” with Joseph Patrick\u00a0Conroy and\u00a0New Milford native Victoria Flores-Argue, the film’s executive producer.<\/p>\n “Candlewood” celebrated its world premiere<\/a> in January 2024 and was shown at local theaters for select screenings this past spring<\/a>. The movie began streaming on Amazon, Apple TV+ and Fandango at Home on March 11.<\/p>\n Furhman also served as assistant director of the Vietnam War-era movie “Summerhouse,” which filmed in the Danbury area last summer.<\/a> He was also involved in the filming of the new thriller movie “The Monster,” <\/a>which was filmed in Danbury and New Milford last fall.<\/p>\n
