But I will help you when you\u2019re blind, mi amor,&#8217;\u201d Maidenberg told The Post on Thursday, the day after the shocking episode dropped on Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>Since she appeared on the reality dating series, she\u2019s gained close to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/madisonvm\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">24,000 Instagram followers<\/a> and received hundreds of messages from people with retinitis pigmentosa, thanking her for raising awareness for the affliction, which affects roughly 1.5 million people worldwide.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Madison\u00a0Maidenberg said people with her rare eye condition, called retinitis pigmentosa, have reached out to her via social media.\u00a0\u201cTo give visibility to this community means more to me than I could ever even imagine,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u00a0 <span class=\"credit\">madisonvm\/instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI had this one guy, it was so sweet. He was at a dark bar. Somebody went to shake his hand and he obviously didn\u2019t see it because we have a hard time with peripherals,\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\n<p> And the person noticed and said, \u2018Do you have what that girl from \u2018Love Is Blind\u2019 has?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the second episode of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8WLvITF6-0Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Season 9 of \u201cLove Is Blind,\u201d<\/a> which airs its finale on Oct. 22, Maidenberg explained to her future fianc\u00e9 Joe Ferrucci that her condition \u201ccan lead to blindness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn low light situations, my peripherals are very, very difficult to see \u2026 so if I\u2019m looking at somebody\u2019s eyes and I\u2019m talking to them, I\u2019m likely not seeing below their nose,\u201d she told The Post. \u201cAnd then on top of that, I see what I call TV static. It\u2019s almost like a filter over my vision all the time, which also makes it very difficult with depth perception. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I miss stairs a lot of times \u2026 I trip and fall a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Maidenberg, who works as a digital designer, ended up getting engaged to Ferrucci, a sales exec, who \u2014 after finally seeing her \u2014 told her he usually dated \u201cmore petite women.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">COURTESY OF NETFLIX<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The brunette beauty applied to the series \u2014 where singles date each other through walled-off pods, never seeing what the other looks like until after they\u2019re engaged \u2014 after she heard it was casting in her hometown of Denver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018Gosh, I would love to be able to experience that and kind of get a taste of what my life could be if I lost my vision.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maidenberg, who works as a digital designer, ended up getting engaged to Ferrucci, a sales exec, who \u2014 after finally seeing her \u2014 told her he usually courted \u201cmore petite women,\u201d which caused her to develop an eating disorder. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, like many women, I had my own insecurities about my body. But his comments triggered something in me that really brought that disordered eating forward,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m no longer struggling with that eating disorder, but I still struggle with the thoughts that come with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The brunette beauty declined to reveal how much weight she\u2019s lost since filming. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/27\/entertainment\/love-is-blind-star-made-a-jaw-dropping-body-transformation\/\">slimmed down since filming<\/a>, which ended in mid 2024, but declined to reveal how much weight she lost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that the biggest thing to take into account here is that I am healthier than I\u2019ve ever been. I am so proud of the body that has carried me for 28 years, and that is what deserves to be celebrated rather than a number on a scale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maidenberg also dished that she has seen Ferrucci since the split.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe met up to get dinner. \u2026 We say goodbye. \u2026 We kind of start making out and he starts tearing up. \u2026 So I texted him after we left, \u2018Why did you tear up?
