Lily Allen<\/a> is set to make a return to music with a new record that marks her first in seven years.<\/p>\n News of the new album follows last month\u2019s announcement that she\u2019d be taking a hiatus from the Miss Me? <\/em>podcast to \u201cgo and do some new stuff for a little bit\u201d<\/a>, which many took as a sign she was turning her sights to new music and potentially working on the follow-up to 2018\u2019s \u2018No Shame<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n Now, in a new interview with British Vogue<\/em><\/a>, Allen has confirmed that the yet-to-be-titled album was recorded in a mere \u201c16 days\u201d late last year, and appears to draw from the dissolution of her marriage to Stranger Things<\/em> actor David Harbour after reports of alleged infidelity on his part<\/a>.<\/p>\n Having heard the record, writer Olivia Marks described it as \u201cLily at the very peak of her powers,\u201d with \u201cgut-punch lyrics\u201d set to infectious pop. The snippets of lyrics shared in the interview certainly seem to allude to the \u201cemotional turmoil\u201d triggered by their split that she\u2019s discussed previously<\/a>.<\/p>\n On \u2018Sleepwalking\u2019, for instance, she sings: \u201cYou let me think it was me in my head \/ And nothing to do with them girls in your bed<\/em>\u201d. Similarly, in \u2018Dallas Major\u2019 she doubles down: \u201cYou know I used to be quite famous that was way back in the day \/ I probably should explain how my marriage has been open since my husband went astray<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that\u2019s not to say that it\u2019s all gospel,\u201d she told Vogue<\/em>.\u00a0\u201cIt is inspired by what went on in the relationship: Confusion, sorrow, grief, helplessness.\u201d<\/p>\n This comes as the start of the year saw her share that\u00a0she was \u201ctrying to manifest\u201d getting a new album \u201cout by the end of the year\u201d.<\/a> Last spring, she revealed that\u00a0she was working on new music in Nashville<\/a>, but found the process a bit \u201cintimidating\u201d.<\/p>\n In January of last year, the \u2018Not Fair\u2019 singer\u00a0teased that she had written around 50 new songs for her upcoming album<\/a>, although none have been shared at the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n
