Taylor Swift\u2019s friendships have always been as headline-making<\/a> as her hit songs, But lately, the harmony among her famous inner circle seems to be hitting a few sour notes.<\/p>\n Swift\u2019s recent launch of her album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>, may have rubbed one of her A-list besties the wrong way<\/a>. The Daily Mail <\/a><\/em>is reporting that her friendship with Ed Sheeran is \u201cstrained\u201d \u2014 and it has everything to do with her music.<\/p>\n More from SheKnows<\/strong><\/p>\n Sheeran released his eighth studio album, Play<\/em>, on Sept. 12, a move that was announced back in May. In August, Swift revealed her 12th album was on the way with an Oct. 3 release date. The \u201cShape of You\u201d singer was reportedly upset that his pal chose a date so close to his launch.<\/p>\n \u201cEd takes these things really seriously and carefully plans his album releases. He announced his album with four months\u2019 notice, but then Taylor announced hers for just two weeks after,\u201d a music industry source told the U.K. media outlet. \u201cIt left his team scrabbling to get as much attention before hers dropped. He was very much put out and understandably peeved.\u201d<\/p>\n The insider also claims that it was \u201cnot the first time that Taylor has done something like this\u201d to a fellow musician. There is an alleged feud<\/a> between Swift and Charlie XCX over the 35-year-old singer\u2019s decision to \u201cchart block\u201d Charlie\u2019s Brat<\/em> album. Swift released an album variant of The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> to keep her music at the top of the Billboard charts.<\/p>\n Swift and Sheeran have been friends since their 2012 collaboration, \u201cEverything Has Changed,\u201d which led to him going out on tour as her opening act. His time in Nashville also cemented their friendship, but lately it seems that the dynamic in the relationship has shifted.<\/p>\n During a Sept. 24 appearance<\/a> with Andy Cohen for SiriusXM\u2019s Small Stage Series concert, the TV host asked the 34-year-old singer how he learned of Swift\u2019s engagement<\/a> to Travis Kelce.<\/p>\n \u201cInstagram,\u201d Sheeran said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou didn\u2019t even get a DM in advance?\u201d Cohen responded in a bit of shock.<\/p>\n \u201cNo,\u201d Sheeran added while noting he also did not know when the wedding was scheduled.<\/p>\n Swift defended herself during her Oct. 6 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/a><\/em> as to why she didn\u2019t tell Sheeran ahead of the headlines about her engagement.<\/p>\n \u201cHe doesn\u2019t have a phone,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is one thing I love about him. It\u2019s very eccentric. Love it. But when I\u2019m going through, saying, \u2018Hey, who should we call? Who should we FaceTime?\u2019 I\u2019m going through my texts and being like, \u2018Who have I texted within the last like, month of my life?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Swift continued, \u201cYou have to email him or FaceTime him, and he has to find an iPad, and they have to give it to him like he\u2019s a child. This is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet. When the news came out, I was like, \u2018We forgot to call Ed!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Sheeran seemed to downplay the feud rumors by commenting on Fallon\u2019s TikTok page<\/a>, \u201cHello from my allotted iPad time, this is factual.\u201d<\/p>\n Perhaps Swift and Sheeran aren\u2019t as close as they used to be, but it doesn\u2019t seem like it\u2019s a tumultuous situation right now.
