CHICAGO (WGN<\/a>) \u2013 Inside the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, you\u2019ll find the exhibition of pop figure icon Yoko Ono.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s huge for Chicago,\u201d MCA curator Jamillah James said. \u201cOne could say she was one of the original influencers.\u201d<\/p>\n The exhibit is quite interactive and challenges spectators to imagine.<\/p>\n Picture perfect free hand drawing of free throw: Artist\u2019s sketch of Michael Jordan earns praise from the man himself <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cYoko Ono is incredibly influential for use of the voice as an instrument, is so provocative, so exciting; she\u2019s influenced so many musicians that I also hold dear,\u201d James said. \u201cIt has 200 object in it which is no easy feat to organize, I have to say\u2026.there\u2019s performance documentation, there\u2019s sound, there\u2019s music, there\u2019s photography.\u201d<\/p>\n Chicago is the North American premiere for Yoko Ono Music of the Mind.<\/p>\n \u201cThe exhibition was organized at the Tate Modern in London, so we talked with our friends at Tate and made arrangement for it to come here, which is an amazing opportunity for Chicago and the MCA to celebrate this important, influential artist,\u201d James said.<\/p>\n The exhibit spans Ono\u2019s seven decades in art, from the 1950s through her relationship and marriage to John Lennon and her work beyond, challenging us to imagine.<\/p>\n After 2 kidney transplants, Chicago woman takes on first marathon <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cYoko, it should be known, was a totally, fully fledged artist before she became a pop cultural figure, a figure that people know better in certain context than perhaps her visual work,\u201d James said. \u201cAny way you come to the exhibition, you\u2019re going to have good time, you\u2019re going to learn about Yoko Ono and her work, and I hope, come away with a better idea of who she is, who she has been and also, have a different sense of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n Yoko Ono Music of the Mind runs now through Feb. 22 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.<\/p>\n Tickets can be purchased here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
