Is a third Hocus Pocus<\/em> movie still happening? Bette Midler<\/strong> just offered a promising update.<\/p>\n The iconic actress, 79, recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live<\/em>, where she shared new insight into the progress behind the highly anticipated threequel.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, you know, they sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant,\u201d she told WWHL<\/em> host Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> on Thursday, Oct. 16. \u201cSo I got very excited, and now we\u2019re trying to figure out what it is and where it\u2019s going to be, and how much it\u2019s going to cost and all those logistical things.\u201d<\/p>\n The last time Midler discussed the Hocus Pocus 3<\/em> script was in July 2024, as Variety<\/em> noted<\/a>. During an appearance on the QVC+ talk show Busy This Week<\/em>, she had urged Disney to expedite development on the long-awaited sequel, the magazine reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t seen the script, but I\u2019ve heard rumblings,\u201d Midler said at the time. \u201cI think if they\u2019re gonna, they oughta, because time is not just marching \u2014 time is barrel-assing to the finish line. Get us while we\u2019re still breathing. I mean, God!\u201d<\/p>\n Sean Bailey<\/strong>, Walt Disney Pictures’ former president, revealed that \u201cHocus Pocus 3<\/em> is happening\u201d in a 2023 profile with The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n The announcement didn\u2019t come as a huge surprise given the immense streaming success of Hocus Pocus 2<\/em>, which became the most-watched Disney+ original film at the time it premiered.<\/p>\n A release date for\u00a0Hocus Pocus 3<\/em><\/a>hasn\u2019t been nailed down yet. While production was initially announced in June 2023, it seemed to stall out \u2014 though\u00a0Hocus Pocus 2\u00a0<\/em>screenwriter\u00a0Jen D\u2019Angelo<\/strong>\u00a0confirmed it was still in the works after the WGA strike ended in September 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re still in the story phase, we\u2019re still working on it,\u201d D\u2019Angelo, 37,\u00a0told\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> in October of that year. \u201cWe\u2019ve been working on some ideas. It\u2019s been fun to dive back into that world, and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore.
