Lauren S\u00e1nchez<\/a>\u00a0has found herself in the spotlight ever since she and Jeff Bezos<\/a>\u00a0got married in a lavish ceremony in Venice. It\u2019s partly because the ceremony was attended by a who\u2019s who of celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah, and the Kardashians. But it\u2019s also because the rumors about her kept swirling after. Would Bezos buy Vogue for S\u00e1nchez<\/a>? Was she writing another book? Did her wedding dress really get stolen?<\/p>\n Now, S\u00e1nchez is speaking up about an issue that has marked her life. To commemorate World Dyslexia Day, the former journalist opened up about her experience and the struggles of not being diagnosed early enough. In a 2024 interview on Good Morning America, S\u00e1nchez explained that she was never diagnosed during school. Her children\u2019s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space, was inspired by her own experiences as a child.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s for the eight-year-old self me, who really felt dumb,\u201d she said in the interview. \u201cI sat in the back of the class. I was just quiet. They kind of pushed me along in public school, and I kept going.\u201d<\/p>\n S\u00e1nchez also shared that, back then, her dream job as a journalist didn\u2019t seem possible. \u201cI really, really wanted to be a journalist, it\u2019s all I wanted to be, and I thought, I can\u2019t write, it was horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n But in college, a teacher encouraged her to write for the school newspaper. She recalled responding, \u201cI can\u2019t really write.\u201d Then came the advice that would change everything for her. \u201cJust write without thinking about spelling or punctuation.\u201d When she turned in the assignment, the teacher knew. \u201cI don\u2019t remember what the story was about. She literally looked at me after I turned it in, and she was like, \u2018You are not dumb, you just can\u2019t spell,\u2019 and she got me tested for dyslexia.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to make a career as a journalist and publish a children\u2019s book, with a second one, titled The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea<\/em>, coming in 2026. The book will once again feature Flynn, the curious fly from her first book,\u00a0The Fly Who Flew to Space,\u00a0<\/em>which was released in 2024. This time, the story will revolve around Flynn\u2019s time on an underwater journey, while he learns all about marine life and how amazing and endangered oceans are.<\/p>\n This comes after a recent update on the legal battle S\u00e1nchez and Bezos are involved in with her estranged brother,\u00a0Michael S\u00e1nchez<\/a>.\u00a0Page Six<\/a><\/em>\u00a0reported that their legal team filed a motion in California Superior Court demanding that Michael S\u00e1nchez pay $182,374 in attorney\u2019s fees and $8,182 in legal costs, \u201cincurred in connection with (1) her successful Special Motion to Strike, and (2) this Motion for Attorney\u2019s Fees and Costs.\u201d<\/p>\n All of this is related to reports of an affair between Bezos and S\u00e1nchez, which first surfaced while she was still married to\u00a0Patrick Whitesell. At the time, there was a suggestion that her brother was responsible. He denied it and then sued for defamation, but the Los Angeles County Superior Court ruled in Bezos\u2019s favor.
