Founded in late 2023, the project\u00a0 grew out of the long-standing friendship between Michael Peidl, David Forbes, and Stephan Alt.\u00a0 During the still and silenced world of the pandemic, the first songs were born \u2013 raw, intense,\u00a0 and full of yearning for the stage and loud amplifiers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Their debut album was recorded with a guest drummer, but by the release show in early\u00a0 summer 2024, Dirk Nilles had joined permanently. In early 2025, Oliver Quinten, bassist of\u00a0 Surrender The Crown, came on board. Having first encountered FOLD as a juror at a band\u00a0 contest, he was so convinced by their energy that he immediately offered to join. FOLD embodies grunge in its purest\u00a0 form \u2013 inspired by Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots, yet pulsing with a\u00a0 contemporary edge. You can hear the musicians\u2019 shared background, their unspoken\u00a0 understanding in every riff and chord. The music carries the spirit of basement rehearsals from\u00a0 their youth, but with a grown-up clarity and purpose.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unforgettable remains their debut album release show: an old church with pews pushed aside,\u00a0 colorful light streaming through tall windows, and a stage built in front of the altar \u2013 church\u00a0 meets grunge rock. The atmosphere was at once sacred and raw, reminiscent of the legendary\u00a0 Moore Theatre in Seattle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Equally formative: Michael\u2019s day at the legendary Sound City Studio in Los Angeles, a place of\u00a0 pilgrimage for grunge fans worldwide. That experience left an invisible imprint on the work for\u00a0 the second album.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This new record marks the sound of a solidified unit. The songs are more mature, melodic, and\u00a0 infused with stoner rock nuances. The vocals are sharper, the production more accessible, yet\u00a0 the determination remains unchanged: Keep Grunge Music Alive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the album release in November 2025, FOLD will play several club shows supported by\u00a0 a major video production. Looking ahead to 2026, the band is preparing more club dates, small\u00a0 summer festivals, and a special weekend with two shows in London. FOLD brings passion,\u00a0 authenticity, and the raw energy of classic grunge into the present day.<\/p>\n<p>Golden Void is a journey through dust, shadows, and fractured dreams. Each song opens a chapter of\u00a0 inner darkness: from the burning self-abandonment in Golden Void, through the solitary search for\u00a0 meaning in Echolight and Sky Valley, to the confrontation with broken truths in Fractured Lies. Pain,\u00a0 deception, and impermanence drift like fog through the record, but flashes of hope, trust, and resilience\u00a0 break through \u2013 in the quiet strength of Dust or the conciliatory memory of Different Days. FOLD weaves\u00a0 a dense, existential soundscape \u2013 raw and vulnerable \u2013 where darkness and light, decay and healing, are\u00a0 inseparably intertwined.
