Fran Drescher<\/a> knew the cancellation of her TV show Happily Divorced<\/a><\/em> was a mistake, and according to her, TV Land<\/a> came to the same realization. An executive at the cable network even told Drescher that canceling the sitcom was TV Land\u2019s \u201cbig regret.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s too bad that TV Land took Happily Divorced<\/em> off after only 36 episodes,\u201d Drescher told People<\/a>, attributing the sitcom\u2019s slow start to a \u201cpoor business model.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI did point it out to them, but they didn\u2019t want to hear it. But ultimately, I was proved correct,\u201d she added. \u201cTwo years later, I ran into one of the executives, and they said, \u2018If it\u2019s any consolation, that\u2019s, like, the big regret at TV Land. That shouldn\u2019t have been canceled. That shouldn\u2019t have gone away. It was so good.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Drescher explained that sponsors should have had more time to discover the show\u2019s appeal. \u201cIf you have limited money, you can\u2019t pay for a series with the hopes that you\u2019ll be able to syndicate it or advance sell it before you start running out of money,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was going to take a little bit longer than 36 episodes to sell. Not to find the audience, because everybody loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n The star of The Nanny<\/a><\/em> created Happily Divorced<\/em> with her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, and the former couple based it on their own relationship history. In the show, Drescher\u2019s Fran Lovett is a florist who discovers that her husband of 18 years, Peter Lovett (John Michael Higgins<\/a>), is gay. They divorce but continue to cohabitate to save money. As she re-enters the dating pool, Fran \u201cjuggles her new relationships and her ex-husband post-divorce while still living under the same roof,\u201d TV Land said in a synopsis.<\/p>\n Joining Drescher and Higgins in the cast were Tichina Arnold<\/a> as Fran\u2019s best friend, Judi; Rita Moreno<\/a> and Robert Walden<\/a> as her parents, Dori and Glen; Valente Rodriguez as her flower delivery employee, Cesar; and D.W.
