I mean, a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/streaming\/articles\/netflix-subscription-plans-price-included-174717448.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Netflix subscription;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Netflix subscription<\/a> gives you access to dozens of these types of docuseries exploring ghosts, possessions, and other supernatural incidents, and this seemed like more of the same. However, after pressing play, I quickly realized I was wrong; very, very wrong.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On the surface, <em>True Haunting<\/em> gives off the impression that it would take the standard approach with stories about a college dormitory plagued by an angry spirit and a Victorian house with a chilling past, but that\u2019s not the case. I don\u2019t mean that in a demeaning way, but I was getting some <em>Unsolved Mysteries<\/em> and <em>The UnXplained<\/em> vibes from everything I was seeing. That continued over the course of that unsettling story as well as the two-parter about a young family\u2019s experience after buying a haunted Victorian manor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Remember how <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/news\/2555346\/what-is-the-social-dilemma-things-to-know-about-the-netflix-documentary-before-you-watch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Netflix\u2019s The Social Dilemma;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Netflix\u2019s <em>The Social Dilemma<\/em><\/a> combined elements of documentary and drama to create a unique experience, diving into the pitfalls of social media? Well, it\u2019s like if you combined that and the reenactments from <em>Unsolved Mysteries<\/em> to tell complex, and utterly terrifying stories. Though this is a Netflix show you could binge, my wife and I had to break it up and watch an episode a night, mainly because we needed to watch something to calm our nerves after each 30-plus-minute chapter. I had a similar experience with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/enfield-poltergeist-know-watch-apple-160450286.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Apple TV\u2019s The Enfield Poltergeist;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Apple TV\u2019s <em>The Enfield Poltergeist<\/em><\/a> back in 2023 (another series that combines documentary and drama), in that I was fascinated and eager to learn how the story would unfold, but also scared while watching everything go down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">With James Wan as the executive producer of the series, I guess I shouldn\u2019t be so surprised in this regard.
