Check it out below.<\/p>\n<p>The new track comes amid a huge ongoing debate about the use of AI, particularly in the creation of music, and follows on from other of Grimes\u2019 songs that touch on the subject, including<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/grimes-returns-with-new-single-i-wanna-be-software-3474932\"> \u2018I Wanna Be Software\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With the new track, the artist introduces a heavy, electronic beat and begins to put forward the perspective of artificial intelligence in the lyrics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>This is what it feels like to be hunted by something smarter than you,<\/em>\u201d sings an AI-impacted voice at the start. \u201c<em>I cannot die, I do no want, there is no revelation\/ The only thing I covet is my own annihilation\/ Inhalation, exhalation\/ Power isn\u2019t given, it is taken<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The title makes a nod to Grimes\u2019 2015 album \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/reviews-grimes-16326-309125\">Art Angels<\/a>\u2019, and is co-produced by Grant Boutin and Vadakin. The new cover for the single is made by Grimes and consists of various internet memes made about her and her outlook on tech.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Artificial Angels\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5XqCp7Z7fgg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>As highlighted by <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/10\/grimes-artificial-angels-stream\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consequence<\/a>, Grimes has shared that the song is not made entirely using AI, but rather only integrates it in the voice heard at the start and end.<\/p>\n<p>The artist also clarified that while it is an intricate topic, she generally is against AI being used to make music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it can be useful for some things but the apps mostly took the cool ai artifacts out if it and I\u2019m not super interested in it to just make normal music,\u201d Grimes wrote on X\/Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s only useful to me for novel\/ experimental sound design were they to allow that aspect back. Or possibly for more efficient advanced things like bg noise removal etc\u2026 Or for jokes. Otherwise I fear it is a bit slop oriented at the moment which seems like the opposite of innovation to me. Since then, the artist has worked with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/magdalena-bay\">Magdalena Bay<\/a>, Illangelo, Svedaliza, and more for collaborations, but hasn\u2019t shared a full album since 2020\u2019s \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/grimes-miss-anthropocene-review-2612446\">Miss Anthropocene<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Grimes has spoken about AI numerous times before, and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/grimes-reckons-the-use-of-ai-in-music-will-probably-shape-all-minds-going-forward-for-the-rest-of-time-3611901\">last year said that she thinks the use of it in music \u201cwill probably shape all minds going forward for the rest of time\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While saying that she is generally against AI music, the artist has been one of the most prolific voices in the music industry advocating for AI in the past couple of years, and<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/grimes-makes-over-200-grimesai-records-available-for-content-creators-to-use-on-any-platform-3520596\"> made over 200+ GrimesAI Records available for content creators to use on any platform<\/a>.
