{"id":2103697,"date":"2025-10-20T14:34:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T14:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2103697"},"modified":"2025-10-20T14:34:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T14:34:10","slug":"eric-clapton-to-play-mannheim-cologne-and-munich-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/eric-clapton-to-play-mannheim-cologne-and-munich-in-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Eric Clapton to play Mannheim, Cologne and Munich in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-article-body=\"true\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Renowned guitarist and singer Eric Clapton will play three concerts in Germany in May next year, barely a month after he turns 81.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The tour kicks off with a date in Mannheim on May 13, going on to Cologne on May 15 and Munich on May 17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Clapton, who turns 81 on March 30 next year, gained international fame with songs like &#8220;Tears in Heaven,&#8221; &#8220;Layla&#8221; and &#8220;Cocaine,&#8221; and is seen as one of the world&#8217;s most influential guitarists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He has sold around 280 million albums and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times \u2013 more than any other musician.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Clapton first made a name for himself with&#8221;The Yardbirds&#8221; in the mid-1960s, going on to secure his reputation as an exceptional guitarist with John Mayall &amp; the Bluesbreakers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He has since made 22 studio albums as a soloist and played innumerable live performances. &#8220;MTV Unplugged&#8221; from 1992 is seen as a milestone as the live album with the most sales in musical history, with 26 million copies sold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He has made few political statements during his career, but his comments during the coronavirus pandemic caused irritation among friends, colleagues and family alike, as Clapton has himself acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He compared compulsory vaccination to slavery in the song &#8220;Stand And Deliver.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In 2013, Clapton was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, which causes pain in the limbs.
