There was a mix of family, friends, industry shakers and movers stuffed into the studio room to hear tracks and give him live feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Amir\u2019s tagline from his buzzing single \u201cMotivate the City\u201d is \u201ctryna motivate the city, put this shit together.\u201d It got the attention of Gillie and Wallo, who brought their <em>Million Dollaz Worth of Game<\/em> podcast to see what <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/music\/dallas-rapper-zillionaire-doe-signs-with-yo-gotti-owned-label-cmg-21635803\/\">New Dallas was about<\/a>. The community answered the call, banding as one to uplift our next rap star.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;NEW DALLAS&quot; ZILLIONAIRE DOE, MONTANA 700, HEADHUNCHO AMIR: MILLION DOLLAZ WORTH OF GAME EPISODE 330\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cHfefmNi_QI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>If you\u2019ve been reading our music coverage, the New Dallas movement is a group of rappers pushing positivity and unity. The artists using the hashtag (#NewDallas) have put a spotlight on Dallas street rap from neighborhoods like Frazier Street, where Amir is from. Those curious can look at the recent artists <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/music\/hustleman-quise-new-dallas-rapper-signs-capitol-22772700\/\">who have signed to major labels<\/a>, building up the visibility of Dallas as the next hotbed of talent.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after I wrote about <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/music\/headhuncho-amir-still-ain-nun-bigger-interview-22269117\/\">Amir in May<\/a>, it was announced that he signed with 300 Entertainment, and the story was featured in the <em>Observer. <\/em>Corey Cleghorn of Urban Specialists, who also works closely with Amir, DM\u2019ed me on Instagram, letting me know Amir featured that week\u2019s story in his video for \u201c10 Figures.\u201d It\u2019s a good feeling to know that the music community embraces us. I met HollyHood Bay Bay, who told me he read <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/music\/webbie-fourth-of-july-club-vivo-concert-review-22619688\/\">my article on Webbie<\/a>. Amir\u2019s main producer Ziggymadeit was hanging out nearby.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amir\u2019s father Antong Lucky welcomed us and said we should applaud the parents in the industry who support their kids pursuing a career in hip-hop. He made jokes that if he had a little too much to drink and said something out of line, he had both his lawyers here for legal representation. He said that \u201cDallas has the rock right now,\u201d reaffirming that the New Dallas movement is just the first wave of attention that adds to Dallas hip-hop\u2019s legacy after D-Town Boogie.<\/p>\n<p>As Amir played through the tape, people started to repeat some of his lyrics and a few of us told him to run back a few songs. A cameraman was shooting everything, capturing Amir rap along to \u201cEvery Time\u201d and seeing everyone\u2019s delight that we knew he had another hit in his hands. See if you can spot one <em>Observer<\/em> music editor in the recap below.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\">\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-headhuncho-amir-is-on-a-50-year-run\">HeadHuncho Amir Is on a 50 Year Run<\/h2>\n<p>On Oct. 17 (1017 for all my Gucci Mane fans out there), Amir dropped <em>50 Year Run. <\/em>Weeks later, I\u2019m listening again with fresh ears. On the title track, he boasts that \u201cBig Amir\u201d is here to stay and will set the tone. To do the math, a 50-year run means he\u2019ll be in his 70s and still rapping. That\u2019s a Jay-Z level of dedication to the rap game, as part of making it is the time you put into your craft.<\/p>\n<p>For the next 15 tracks, Amir confidently backs up his claim that the tape has no skips, picking up where he left off on <em>Still Ain Nun Bigger. <\/em>The production mirrors his last project, recreating the sounds of early 2000s southern hip-hop for Amir to rap over. The New Dallas sound is bringing back the energy of when Cash Money and No Limit were staying fly and popping their shit. That\u2019s heard on tracks like \u201c50 Year Run\u201d and \u201cIn Real Life\u201d with Zillionaire Doe, where the Jeezy influence is all over. It\u2019s clear <em>Let\u2019s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 <\/em>was in heavy rotation for them.<\/p>\n<p>For other guest appearances, Amir taps into the Midwest, expanding his reach with Peezy (\u201cLayaway\u201d) and 414JungleBaby (\u201cRude\u201d). Amir and Lil Jairmy make a Dallas and Houston connection on\u00a0 \u201cAnticap.\u201d While Amir has more features for this tape, he stands out the most on his solo songs.<\/p>\n<p>On \u201cGenes,\u201d he has one of the best lines from the tape, rapping, \u201cI\u2019m a real D-Boy, this shit is in my genes \/ Before I eat with fake people, I eat with dope feens.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-every-time-amir-drops-the-streets-go-crazy\">Every Time Amir Drops, the Streets Go Crazy<\/h2>\n<p>Amir flips Shop Boyz\u2019 \u201cParty Like a Rock Star\u201d for two minutes of straight bars on \u201cEvery Time.\u201d The song\u2019s video was shot at a mansion filled with beautiful women and cameos by Doe, Montana and Himothy Chung, just in case you needed to know how they like to party.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HeadHuncho Amir - EVERY TIME [Official Video]\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5YZmgdVs9BQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Amir doubles down on the persona he cultivated in his early days, reflecting on being an ex-trap star on songs like \u201cType of Time\u201d and \u201cTrap Again.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The last song, \u201cStaring at the Wall,\u201d is the most revealing of Amir\u2019s focus. From day one, he\u2019s been telling his family he\u2019s going to make it. To hear him rap about being broke and going through different financial phases to be booked up for shows is inspiring for anyone following his journey. Amir\u2019s walking out with SMU football at games and making appearances at this year\u2019s State Fair Classic. He\u2019s getting co-signs from local hit makers.
