\u201cStranger Things\u201d co-creator Matt Duffer put a nail in the conspiracy theory coffin that Joseph Quinn was set for an appearance in Season 5, telling fans definitively Eddie Munson was \u201cfully under that ground.\u201d<\/p>\n
Duffer, who is one half of the twin filmmaking team the Duffer Brothers, set the record straight about Quinn\u2019s possible participation in the upcoming season in a new cover story interview with Empire Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n Per Duffer, while he got a kick out of Quinn \u201ctoying with people,\u201d he confirmed that the latter\u2019s character was still \u201cdead\u201d after the events of Season 4. The TV producer went on, \u201cNo, sadly, RIP. He\u2019s fully under that ground.\u201d<\/p>\n In fact, Duffer noted it should\u2019ve been obvious that Quinn wasn\u2019t returning for the final season of \u201cStranger Things,\u201d given the British actor is booked and busy.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n \u201cJoe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he\u2019s not coming back,\u201d Duffer added. \u201cHe\u2019s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot\u00a0\u2018Stranger Things?’\u201d<\/p>\n Since wrapping his stint on \u201cStranger Things,\u201d Quinn has starred in \u201cA Quiet Place: Day One,\u201d \u201cGladiator II,\u201d \u201cWarfare\u201d and \u201cThe Fantastic Four: First Steps.\u201d<\/p>\n He\u2019s since been cast as George Harrison in the highly anticipated Beatles movie, which also stars Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.<\/p>\n Nonetheless, fans have voiced their hope that Quinn would surface \u2014 even in a cameo capacity \u2014 in the new season, despite the fact his character was fatally attacked by a flock of demobats in the Season 4 finale, titled \u201cThe Piggyback.\u201d<\/p>\n After the episode dropped on Netflix, Quinn stayed coy about his future on the series and said he\u2019d \u201cbe very up for\u201d a guest spot \u2014 much like the one Dacre Montgomery did in Season 4, even though his character Billy had died the season prior.<\/p>\n Though, it\u2019s clear those reticent remarks were less about hiding a cameo and more about adding fuel to the rumor fire.<\/p>\n \u201cStranger Things\u201d Vol. 1 premieres Nov. 26, with Vol. 2 dropping on Dec. 25. The series finale will air on Dec. 31.
