Keith Urban<\/strong> is giving some insight to his life on the road prior to his split with Nicole Kidman<\/strong> \u2014 and it didn’t sound easy.<\/p>\n The longtime musician, 57, opened up about the strenuous nature of touring on the premiere episode of his of new show,\u00a0The Road, on Sunday night (Oct. 19). In the opening scene, Urban chatted with executive producer Blake Shelton<\/strong> about the “challenges” of being on the road.<\/p>\n “It’s a calling and you’re born to do it \u2014 or you’re not gonna make it,” Urban said, who announced his separation with Kidman last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n He continued, “When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning and you’re sick as a dog, you’re in the middle of nowhere and you’ve got to play your fifth show later that night and you haven’t slept and you miss your friends and you’re missing your family and you’re completely lonely and miserable and sick and you say to yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?'”<\/p>\n \ud83c\udfac\u00a0<\/strong>SIGN UP for Parade\u2019s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\ud83c\udfac\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Urban added that the only “answer” as to why he continues to tour despite the difficulties is because “this is what I’m born to do.”<\/p>\n The Road, a singing competition show, is all about the ups and downs of the road, aiming to give 12 emerging musicians the chance to open for Urban on tour.
