\u201cDaily Show<\/a>\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a> went back nearly 250 years to check on President Donald Trump<\/a> after the weekend\u2019s nationwide \u201cNo Kings<\/a>\u201d demonstrations to see if the protesters had a point. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s starting to feel like there might be something to this whole king thing,\u201d he said, then went to \u201cthe source\u201d for the \u201cNo Kings\u201d movement: The Declaration of Independence and its 27 grievances against King George III. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cAll right, the Declaration says, \u2018He has kept among us in times of peace, standing armies without the consent of our legislatures,\u2019\u201d Stewart read. \u201cDone.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As he spoke, headlines about Trump\u2019s use of the National Guard in U.S. cities appeared.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u2033\u2018Cutting off our trade with all parts of the world,\u2019\u201d Stewart continued. \u201cOoooh. That does sound familiar.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Trump has initiated a series of trade wars and imposed tariffs, increasing prices in the United States while also making it hard for U.S. companies to do business overseas as other nations retaliate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u2033\u2018He has obstructed the administration of justice,\u2019\u201d Stewart read. \u201cIt\u2019s getting hot in here. And here\u2019s one more: \u2019He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

With that last one, an image of the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection carried out by Trump supporters in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election appeared on the screen. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
