Oscar Isaac showcased his musical talents on The Tonight Show<\/em> last night, performing Tears for Fears\u2019 \u201cShout\u201d on the bagpipe and \u201cSweet Caroline\u201d on electric bass. Host Jimmy Fallon enlisted the Frankenstein<\/em> actor for the \u201cRandom Instrument Challenge,\u201d which saw them playing songs for house band the Roots to guess.<\/p>\n Isaac completely failed to play the bagpipe, but was successful on the electric bass and later on banjo when he teamed up with Fallon to perform Kool and the Gang\u2019s \u201cCelebration.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Isaac appeared on the late-night show to promote Frankenstein<\/a><\/em>, a new adaptation of Mary Shelley\u2019s Gothic novel by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. Speaking to Fallon about the film, Isaac reflected on working with del Toro and his co-star Jacob Elordi, who plays Dr. Frankenstein\u2019s creation.<\/p>\n He described the film as \u201cthis incredible, passionate, high melodrama\u201d version of the story. \u201cIt\u2019s an opera,\u201d Isaac noted, adding of the filmmaker, \u201cHe\u2019s really made it a biography of his own life.\u201d<\/p>\n The actor explained that del Toro encouraged him to portray the titular character not as a mad scientist, but as an artist, telling Isaac \u201cto be like freaking Mick Jagger.\u201d He also incorporated Prince after the costume designer presented him with high-heeled boots. \u201cI watched some videos of him,\u201d Isaac said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t help it.\u201d<\/p>\n After the chat, Isaac took the opportunity to perform a song called \u201cDamn Tour,\u201d which he co-wrote with his son for their band Fleece.<\/p>\n Frankenstein<\/em> hit select theaters on Oct. 17 and will stream on Netflix on Nov. 7.
