Ethel Cain<\/a> has issued an emotional apology after abruptly ending her Oct. 17 show in Paris following just three songs.<\/p>\n The alt-pop singer was performing the first of two nights at Paris\u2019 L\u2019Olympia when she walked offstage in tears during her fourth track, \u201cNettles,\u201d leaving the concert unfinished.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Venue staff later cited \u201ctechnical issues\u201d and \u201cunforeseen circumstances\u201d to the crowd. Cain later clarified the situation via Instagram Stories, writing, \u201cHi Paris. My apologies for the show last night. I\u2019ve been having a bit of a time lately and sometimes it unpredictably bleeds over onto the stage.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m sorry I wasn\u2019t able to finish the set but I\u2019m looking forward to tonight\u2019s show and I can\u2019t wait to see all of you.To everyone who attended last night, I apologize again for the disappointment and the planning that I\u2019m sure went into you attending. It means a lot to me that you came and I\u2019m sorry I let you down,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n The show was part of Cain\u2019s European tour in support of her sophomore album Willoughby Tucker, I\u2019ll Always Love You<\/em>, which dropped in August. <\/em>The release was billed by Cain as the final chapter in her Ethel Cain character arc \u2014 a deeply conceptual project spanning trauma, Americana, and Southern Gothic mythology.<\/p>\n The singer\u2019s Paris set was intended to include material from both her new album and her critically acclaimed 2022 debut Preacher\u2019s Daughter<\/em>. A second Paris show at the same venue was still scheduled to go ahead on Oct. 19.<\/p>\n The emotional breakdown follows a turbulent few months for the artist. In July, several controversial old social media posts resurfaced, prompting Cain to issue a public apology. She described some of the content as \u201cshameful\u201d but also said those resurfacing it were attempting to \u201cdestroy\u201d her.<\/p>\n The following month, \u00a0Lana Del Rey<\/a>\u00a0posted a song snippet taking aim at\u00a0Cain. Del Rey shared a video clip of herself with the caption \u201cTrack 13\u201d and tagging producer Jack Antonoff, in which she called out the \u201cAmerican Teenager\u201d singer by name. \u201cEthel Cain hated my Instagram post\/ Think it\u2019s cute re-enacting my Chicago pose,\u201d she sings in the clip.
