Derek Hough<\/strong><\/a> made a reference to Ryan Seacrest<\/strong><\/a> and Julianne Hough<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s past relationship during a recent appearance on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune<\/em>.<\/p>\n Derek, 40, was a contestant on the game show hosted by Seacrest, 50, alongside fellow Dancing With the Stars<\/em> costars Bruno Tonioli<\/strong> and Jenna Johnson<\/strong>. At one point during the game, Derek solved the puzzle phrase \u201cFootloose and Fancy-Free,\u201d sparking a conversation about the musical Footloose<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cYou were in Footloose back in the day, weren\u2019t you?\u201d Seacrest asked the DWTS<\/em> judge.<\/p>\n Derek stated that it was true and reflected on his time in the stage production before bringing up Julianne\u2019s involvement in the 2011 remake.<\/p>\n \u201cI was! I starred in Footloose<\/em> in the West End for like, 400 shows,\u201d Derek said. \u201cAnd then my sister ended up being in the remake of the film.\u201d<\/p>\n Seacrest, who dated Julianne, now 37, for three years, joked that he did \u201cremember\u201d that.<\/p>\n \u201cActually, fun fact,\u201d Derek began to say before he registered Seacrest\u2019s remark. \u201cI know you remember Ryan!\u201d<\/p>\n After a pregnant pause, Derek then gushed about his sister\u2019s performance in the movie musical.<\/p>\n \u201cOK \u2026 but she crushed it, she did great,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Seacrest agreed with Derek before bringing it back to the game show, saying, \u201cShe did great, you\u2019re doing great.\u201d<\/p>\n Julianne and Seacrest met in 2010 when the dancer appeared as a guest on his radio show. At the time, the Rock of Ages star was seeing then-boyfriend Chuck Wicks<\/strong>. Following their split, Julianne and Seacrest began dating.<\/p>\n In 2013, Julianne and Seacrest split. A source exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at the time it was due to their schedules being \u201ctoo hectic.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt just got to be too much. I think they both just sort of knew they couldn\u2019t do it anymore,\u201d the insider said. \u201cThe travel and lifestyle got to be too much.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the breakup, Julianne and Seacrest have remained friends over the years. In March 2022, Julianne appeared on Seacrest\u2019s radio show, and the pair shared it wasn\u2019t awkward for them to reunite from time to time.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re friends!
