But alas, the show wasn\u2019t seen on a major network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 52<sup>nd<\/sup> annual event, which honored the best and brightest in daytime television programming for the year 2024, was not broadcast on TV but rather streamed on the Emmys\u2019 official platform and online. TV Insider chatted with Adam Sharp, President &amp; CEO, the National Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences (NATAS), about the possibility of the show ever getting back on broadcast TV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe\u2019ll see how it goes,\u201d Sharp tells TV Insider. \u201cIt\u2019s an evolving conversation and certainly, an evolving marketplace. Having our deal come up with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/network\/cbs\/schedule\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:CBS;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">CBS<\/a> at <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/dan-rather-slams-cbs-news-123553603.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:the same time of their merger;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">the same time of their merger<\/a> was not the best of timing. It\u2019s possible that window of conversation will open under new management. While many feel broadcast is the preferred platform for an awards show that honors programs on television, Sharp does recognize the pros of presenting the awards via streaming. \u201cOne nice thing about owning the platform and not having affiliates to apologize to [for going over] is that there\u2019s not hard out,\u201d Sharp points out. \u201cBut you want to respect the audience. A three-hour point is a bit of a traditional time limit for an awards show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">NATAS partnered with <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/show\/access-hollywood\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Access Hollywood;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Access Hollywood<\/a><\/em> for <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/2025-daytime-emmys-deborah-norville-224509635.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:a highlights special;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">a highlights special<\/a>. It\u2019s an idea that may catch on in future years. \u201cMaybe this allows us to package things [in a new way],\u201d Sharp suggests. \u201cLook at the late-night talk shows. The linear audience isn\u2019t necessarily the primary focus, the way it once was. The majority of the audience for [<em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/show\/the-tonight-show-starring-jimmy-fallon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/a><\/em>] is not watching the linear broadcast. They\u2019re watching segments on YouTube.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While the Daytime Emmys bring the entire community together on awards show night, Sharp is aware that viewers have niche interests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIs there a world where the linear ceremony is targeted to the in-room audience?\u201d the executive muses. \u201cAnd there is, for example, a 30-minute edited soap show that is packaged for one audience? And a 30-minute edited culinary awards [presentation] for another audience? They could be tailored to the fragmented narrowcast model that a lot of the audience is getting their content from.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It would certainly be something different!
