Gretchen Wilson<\/strong> has wrapped up a few rounds of interviews while promoting her new role on the brand new music competition series, The Road<\/a>. During one conversation, she revealed she once quarreled with fellow country artist Cody Johnson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Recalling the moment during her chat with Taste of Country Night<\/a>\u2019s Evan Paul<\/strong>,\u00a0 Wilson said the argument occurred years ago at a show they both played in Texas. At the time, Wilson was at the height of her career while Johnson was still making a name for himself outside the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n \u201cWe didn\u2019t start out too good, me and Cody,\u201d Wilson acknowledged while recalling the concert. \u201cWe had to share the stage, and there were little arguments over who was going to get to use the entirety of the stage and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite being at odds, the \u201cRedneck Woman\u201d singer insisted neither she nor Johnson was in control of the situation.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t he and me personally, it was our people,\u201d the 52-year-old Illinois native explained. \u201cI\u2019m not even sure if he\u2019s aware of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Although their initial interaction wasn\u2019t necessarily warm or friendly, Wilson says the two artists are on good terms.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve just played a show together recently. I was so glad that he came out and watched my show,\u201d she gushed. \u201cI got to hang out with him and talk to him for a little while. He didn\u2019t bring it up, so I don\u2019t think he remembers it. Thank goodness, because it was like, \u2018What ignorant stuff to be fighting over, really.\u2019 But, when you\u2019re first coming up, that little bit of stage matters.\u201d<\/p>\n Johnson is currently up for the coveted CMA Entertainer of the Year heading into country music\u2019s biggest night, which takes place on November 19. He is in the running alongside host Lainey Wilson<\/strong>, Luke Combs<\/strong>, Chris Stapleton<\/strong>, and Morgan Wallen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On whether or not she thinks Johnson could win the crown, Wilson says, \u201cAbsolutely! Absolutely! And, also being said that, I\u2019m really proud of the ladies too.\u201d<\/p>\n She\u2019s not just proud of the ladies; Wilson shares her opinion on females in country music in general, calling them more \u201cboisterous\u201d than their male counterparts.<\/p>\n When asked if \u201cthere are too many sissies in country music,\u201d she answered: \u201cWell, I see that more on the male side than the female side, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt just seems like more men are timid nowadays than women are,\u201d Wilson reasoned. \u201cMaybe that\u2019s just where we\u2019re at in our world, but it does seem like women are a lot more boisterous than they used to be, unafraid, and they are ready to kick the doors down and make something happen. Men seem to be standing around asking for permission.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not afraid to say it, we\u2019ve kinda squashed the male demographic as a whole,\u201d she continued. \u201cIf I had a son, I\u2019d be a little bit afraid right now in today\u2019s world.\u201d<\/p>\n Wilson serves as tour manager on The Road, which debuted on Sunday, October 19. The show, which follows 12 emerging musicians as they compete as opening acts for Keith Urban<\/strong>, also includes Urban, Blake Shelton<\/strong>, and Taylor Sheridan<\/strong> in various roles. The Road airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET\/PT on CBS.
