It has been a \u201ccrazy, crazy health year\u201d for country music<\/a> singer Ashley Cooke.<\/p>\n The 28-year-old, best known for her 2023 hit single \u201cYour Place,\u201d recently opened up to E! News<\/a> about dealing with a slew of tough diagnoses for both her and her family.<\/p>\n \u201cMy dad had cancer for the fifth time,\u201d she told the outlet \u201cMy mom had a heart attack. Both of my grandmothers passed away. My sister had stuff with her thyroid that she\u2019s been posting about, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Cooke also opened up about her own battle with Brugada syndrome, which she first revealed on social media in July<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI was diagnosed with Brugada syndrome, which a lot of my dad\u2019s side of the family has,\u201d Cooke told E! News. \u201cThe toughest part is that I\u2019m still learning about it every day. I really don\u2019t know as much as I\u2019d like to know, because there really isn\u2019t a ton that we can<\/i> know.\u201d<\/p>\n Brugada syndrome is a rare condition that can be life-threatening and there is \u201can increased risk of irregular heart rhythms beginning in the lower chambers of the heart,\u201d according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. The condition can cause fainting, as well as sudden cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n Cooke told E! News that Brugada is \u201cthe kind of syndrome that nothing really affects you until it does and it\u2019s fatal.<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cA lot of people on my dad\u2019s side, they\u2019ve unfortunately \u2014 out of nowhere without even knowing they had it \u2014 had a cardiac episode and they were gone.\u201d<\/p>\n The singer added that the scariest part of being diagnosed with Brugada disease is \u201cthere\u2019s really nothing to do or not do about it. It\u2019s just something I\u2019m living with.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just one of those things that I have, and I just know that could be something that takes me someday,\u201d Cooke continued.<\/p>\n While the musician recognizes the rather bleak prognosis, she decides to look on the bright side.
