From the moment Prince Andrew<\/a> announced he would no longer use his titles and honors, the question on everyone\u2019s mind was: what about his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson<\/a>? Would she still be using the title of Duchess of York even though Andrew was no longer using the title of Duke of York<\/a>? Now, it seems like we\u2019ve got a clear answer on that, and it came on social media.<\/p>\n Sarah Ferguson has now removed \u201cthe Duchess of York\u201d from her social media. People<\/a><\/em> had previously reported that as Andrew gave up his titles, Ferguson would also not use the title going forward. The biography text has not been completely updated, as there are still references to the title in the text.<\/p>\n Queen Elizabeth II originally made her son the Duke of York when he married Fergie<\/a> in 1986,\u00a0which made Ferguson the Duchess of York. The two separated in 1992, and divorced in 1996, but Ferguson has retained the title.<\/p>\n In a\u00a0statement released by Buckingham Palace<\/a>\u00a0on Friday, Oct. 17, Prince Andrew stated, \u201cIn discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWith His Majesty\u2019s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me,\u201d he added. \u201cAs I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.\u201d<\/p>\n This is reportedly not all, as The Sunday Times<\/em><\/a> reports that Prince William will go even further when he is King, banning Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson<\/a> from public and private royal events and state occasions, including his coronation. This ban will reportedly not extend to the couple\u2019s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.<\/p>\n Reportedly, this all ties back to the fact that William and his wife, Kate Middleton, are not happy that Prince Andrew is still living at Royal Lodge, which is very close to their new home, Forest Lodge.
