It also features a closer look at the rest of its all-star cast, including Jack Lowden, Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Fearn, Julie Kavner, Rebecca Hall, Becky Ann Baker, and Joey Brooks, with Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson.<\/p>\n Ella McCay is written and directed by James L. Brooks (Terms of Endearment). This marks Brooks\u2019 feature directorial comeback, after a decade since 2010\u2019s romantic comedy How Do You Know. It is produced by Brooks, Julie Ansell, Jennifer Brooks, and Richard Sakai, with Seth Meier serving as an executive producer.<\/p>\n \u201cMy goal for this movie was to pay tribute, as best I could, to the golden age of movie comedy, the 1940s and 50s, when each of the Hepburns reigned,\u201d Brooks said in a statement. \u201cThe challenge all along was to maintain the same zany spirit of that era, while still taking seriously the inevitable jolts, pains, and pitfalls of being human.
