Jenny Beavan<\/strong>, an Academy Award winning costume designer, revealed a little secret of her job: Male actors often ditch their underwear for costume fittings.<\/p>\n

Beavan, 74, explained in an interview with The Daily Telegraph<\/em><\/a>, \u201cThey have to take all their clothes off. It\u2019s astonishing the number of male actors who don\u2019t wear underwear<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI\u2019ve had to go out and buy them pants \u2013 not Calvin Klein or anything like that; I usually get them from [British retailer] Marks \u2013 otherwise they try to hide themselves behind a chair looking marginally awkward.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think, \u2018For God\u2019s sake, if I was going to a fitting and trying on second-hand clothes<\/a> I\u2019d wear some pants.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While Beavan did not name specific actors, she has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood (no pun intended) including Tom Hardy<\/strong> and Nicholas Hoult<\/strong> on the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road<\/em>. She also dressed Robert Downey Jr<\/strong>. and Jude Law<\/strong> for 2009\u2019s Sherlock Holmes<\/em> and Colin Firth<\/strong> and Guy Pearce<\/strong> for their 2010 film, The King\u2019s Speech<\/em>, to name a few.<\/p>\n

Apart from the nude male celebrities, Beavan revealed that stars often spill their secrets during costume fittings.<\/p>\n

\u201cActors confide in me a lot. Not just the women but the men too. I\u2019ve heard some pretty extraordinary things,\u201d she told The Daily Telegraph<\/em>. \u201cThey tell me everything. I think it\u2019s because I\u2019m not very frightening. I\u2019m short and mumsy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
