\u201cThe Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most watched music performances worldwide,\u201d the petition on Change.org<\/a> begins, arguing that \u201cit\u2019s pivotal to remember the roots that have made American music what it is today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calling Strait, 73, \u201cthe King of Country\u201d and \u201ca staple in American musical history,\u201d the post adds, \u201cHis performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion.\u201d It concludes, \u201cThe Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country\u2026 Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football\u2019s biggest stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

The National Enquirer<\/em> previously reported<\/a> on October 17 that a petition was launched and it had just over 35,000 signatures, but since then, the numbers have continued to grow. Several people left comments in support of a performance by Strait with one person going as far to say that previous halftime shows had been satanic.<\/p>\n

Another person added that Bad Bunny, 31, \u201chates America, George Strait loves America! There\u2019s an obvious choice here. Come on NFL, get your act together! May God have mercy on us.\u201d<\/p>\n
