Just days after the death of Limp Bizkit co-founder bassist Sam Rivers<\/a> at age 48 of undisclosed causes, TMZ<\/a> is reporting that a spokesperson for St. Johns County, Florida Fire Rescue said they responded to a call on Saturday (Oct. 18) for a \u201cnonresponsive person in cardiac arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n At press time no official cause of death had been announced and the gossip site added that a spokesperson for the St. Johns County Sheriff\u2019s office said that deputies responded to what is referred to as an \u201cattended death\u201d at Rivers\u2019 address, meaning a call in which the deceased was a patient under medical care for a serious or life-threatening illness likely to result in a near-term death.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Billboard reached out to the St. Johns Country Fire Rescue and Sheriff\u2019s offices \u2014\u00a0as well as Limp Bizkit\u2019s spokesperson \u2014 for comment, but had not heard back at press time.<\/p>\n Rivers, 48, was diagnosed with liver disease in 2011 due to excessive drinking and received a liver transplant in 2017 after taking a temporary leave from the nu-metal band in 2015, before returning in 2018.<\/p>\n Singer Fred Durst posted an emotional tribut<\/a>e to Rivers on Monday saying, \u201cit\u2019s so tragic he\u2019s not here now\u201d and admitting that he\u2019d gone through \u201cgallons and gallons of tears since yesterday and I\u2019m thinking, \u2018my God, Sam\u2019s a legend,\u2019 you know? He did it. He lived it.\u201d Earlier, the band \u2014\u00a0which also features guitarist Wes Borland, DJ Lethal and drummer John Otto \u2014\u00a0released a joint statement paying tribute to their beloved compatriot.<\/p>\n \u201cSam Rivers wasn\u2019t just our bass player \u2014 he was pure magic,\u201d the group said. \u201cThe pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound. From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.\u201d<\/p>\n At press time it appeared the band planned to carry on with its planned late 2025 Gringo Papi South American tour dates, which will resume on Nov. 29 at Explanada del Estadio Banorte in Mexico City before moving on to Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina before winding down on Dec. 20 in Sao Paulo, Brazil; no replacement for Rivers has been announced yet.<\/p>\n Billboard\u2019s Live Music Summit will be held in Los Angeles on Nov. 3.
