The sheer number of artist signings announced on a weekly basis makes it difficult to keep up, no matter how closely you pay attention to the industry news cycle. That\u2019s why every other Tuesday, Billboard compiles the latest signings to labels, distributors, agencies, management companies and more, in an effort to provide a snapshot of the latest moves in the artist space, from household names to indie stars to emerging acts.<\/p>\n
More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n The top story this go-round is Virgin Music Group\u2019s partnership with Spice Girls<\/a> icon Melanie C <\/a>and her indie label Red Girl Records, which kicked off with the release of the singer\u2019s new single \u201cSweat,\u201d which came out Friday (Oct. 17). The singer is slated to release her ninth studio album, also titled Sweat, next year.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be releasing my new music with Virgin Music Group,\u201d said Melanie in a statement. \u201cIt feels like a homecoming after the successes we shared working together with Spice Girls and my first two solo albums. They are paving the way for more artist-led deals and have an incredibly strong international team. I\u2019m really excited to see what we can achieve together.\u201d<\/p>\n 156\/Silence, a metalcore band that hails from Pittsburgh, signed with Pure Noise Records. The label released the band\u2019s newest track, \u201cOur Parting Ways,\u201d on Wednesday (Oct. 15). 156\/Silence is currently on the road, with fall dates stretching through early December. The band\u2019s most recent album, People Watching, was released last year.<\/p>\n See the rest of the latest signings below.<\/p>\n Brookfield, the folk-rock band formerly known as Boy Named Banjo, signed to Rounder Records and released \u201cCanyon Walls,\u201d the group\u2019s first single under its new name, on the label.<\/p>\n Manchester-based band Westside Cowboys signed with Island Records imprint Adventure Recordings, which will release the group\u2019s new EP, So Much Country \u2018Till We Get There, on Jan. 16. Country will follow the band\u2019s debut EP, This Better Be Something Great, which was released earlier this year.<\/p>\n Lala Lala, the project of singer-songwriter Lillie West, signed to Sub Pop and released the single \u201cDoes This Go Faster?\u201d on the label. She released the instrumental album if i were a real man i would be able to break the neck of a suffering bird last year. Lala Lala is supporting Current Joys on his North American tour this month.<\/p>\n Utah-based rock band Riff Wood signed with Giant Music and released the new single \u201cManufactured in Tragedy,\u201d with a Rob Cavallo-produced album to follow next year. The trio independently released its debut album, Tough Luck, earlier this year.<\/p>\n Melbourne band These New South Wales signed with Grand Control Touring for North and South American booking representation. The band\u2019s representative at Ground Control is Josh Stern. The band just released \u201cMISS HER,\u201d a single from its forthcoming album GODSPEED.<\/p>\n Florida hardcore band LIMBS signed with Papercut Recordings, a joint label venture between Leo Valeri and Ryan \u201cTuck\u201d O\u2019Leary, and released the single \u201cDoesn\u2019t Feel Like Home.\u201d<\/p>\n Nashville Christian Songwriters (NCS) launched the label imprint NCS Records and signed American Idol season 14 runner-up Clark Beckham<\/a>.
