Not exactly a mainstream outing. His larger-than-life personality blurs the line between actor and character so it\u2019s hard to tell sometimes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kyle Gass, also playing himself, nails the role of \u201criding Jack Black\u2019s coattails,\u201d as he proudly admits whenever he does press. On the streets, Jack meets Kyle, a guitarist who\u2019s equal parts skilled and stoned. With Jack\u2019s powerhouse vocals and Kyle\u2019s riffs, they form Tenacious D and start playing open mics to mixed reactions and heckling crowds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When they discover the legend of the titular Pick of Destiny, said to be forged from Satan\u2019s tooth, they set out to find it, believing it will make them rock gods. When I got the companion album a week before the movie\u2019s release, I was underwhelmed when I finally went to see it. Like most good musicals, the songs give away the story beats, so I already knew how things would end. Maybe the idea was for audiences to sing along in theaters, but judging by the blank stares around me, most people showed up expecting a standard <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/ent\/pitch-black-true-crime-comedy.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Jack Black;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Jack Black<\/a> comedy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><em>The Pick of Destiny<\/em> works better on repeat viewings. Watching him shred on one of the coolest drum kits ever put to film is worth the price of admission alone.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-4 text-lg font-bold\"><strong>Streaming The Pick Of Destiny<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><em>The Pick of Destiny<\/em> doesn\u2019t try to be clever or sophisticated. It\u2019s crude, loud, and proud of it. Every song, joke, and performance is delivered with reckless confidence that only Tenacious D could pull off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The dialogue might not win any awards, but that\u2019s not the point. This movie exists purely for fun, and it delivers on that promise.
