After predicting \u201cchaos\u201d at the No Kings protests over the weekend, and even labeling footage of them as such on-air, Fox News dubbed the actual protestors as nothing more than \u201cgray hairs\u201d and \u201ctheater kids.\u201d But, on Wednesday night, Seth Meyers warned the hosts against mocking theater kids.<\/p>\n
During his \u201cA Closer Look\u201d segment, the NBC host played a segment from Fox News on the protests, in which host Will Cain said that it may be \u201ctempting \u2026 to laugh at these theater kids.\u201d At that, Meyers had some advice, based on his years of experience in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t come for theater kids,\u201d he warned. \u201cThey love attention, they know every word to \u2018Les Mis,\u2019 and until tech week starts for the winter talent show, they are available to come for your ass.\u201d<\/p>\n
During his show, Cain also made fun of the Boomers in the protest crowds, who jokingly dubbed themselves \u201cGrantifa.\u201d And that particular targeting was a bit more confusing to Seth Meyers.<\/p>\n
\u201cFox s\u2013tting on old people is like if Nickelodeon unveiled a new slogan that said \u2018Kids are annoying as f\u2013k,’\u201d he joked. \u201cI thought you said they were going to be Antifa Hamas terrorists. Now they\u2019re gray hairs and theater kids?\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cLate Night\u201d host also got a bit of a chuckle out of other Fox News hosts, as well as Republican politicians, who are rebuffing the idea of President Trump being an authoritarian while also praising his use of authority.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n \u201cI feel that this President, for once, has sort of taken up the space of the executive authority,\u201d Emily Compagno said on Tuesday. \u201cAnd rather than being tepid and timid in the way of executing the mandate of the American people, and the will, he\u2019s actually showing us what that authority looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI love that they can both claim he\u2019s not an authoritarian in one breath, and then say \u2018He\u2019s showing us what authority looks like,’\u201d Meyers said. \u201cIt would be like if she had said \u2018And the great thing is, he\u2019s doing it so fast. That\u2019s his style.
