One of Craig Melvin<\/a>\u2018s on-air mishaps nearly landed Today<\/a><\/em> in legal trouble.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to know, what\u2019s an on-air blooper that you\u2019ll never repeat, that will never happen again?\u201d Andy Cohen<\/a> asked Melvin, Savannah Guthrie<\/a>, and Carson Daly<\/a> during a fan Q&A segment on the Monday, October 20, episode of Today<\/em>. For Melvin, his worst TV moment was \u201cone that almost got us sued.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere was a food recall years ago, when I was doing Weekend Today<\/a><\/em>,\u201d Melvin explained. \u201cI read that this particular brand\u2019s food had killed, like, eight people, and the brand had not killed eight people. They had made eight people sick.\u201d<\/p>\n Cohen was surprised by Melvin\u2019s revelation, stating, \u201cThat\u2019s bad.\u201d<\/p>\n Melvin got his Today<\/em> start as a weekend anchor before\u00a0taking on his role as a third hour of Today<\/em> cohost in 2018. He officially took over for Hoda Kotb<\/a> as Guthrie\u2019s Today<\/em> coanchor in January.<\/p>\n On Monday\u2019s episode of the NBC morning show, Carson Daly also shared his own TV slip-up. \u201cOne of my big snafus, I was reading a story \u2014 when I was new here, too \u2014 I wasn\u2019t used to the teleprompter. And the story was about Leonardo [DiCaprio]<\/a>, and I said \u2018Leonardo DiCrapio,’\u201d The Voice<\/a><\/em> host shared. \u201cAnd to this day, when I see Leonardo\u2019s name on the prompter, my heartbeat starts to go [up].\u201d<\/p>\n As for Guthrie, one of her least-favorite Today<\/em> memories comes from a 2012 interview with Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian<\/a>. \u201cI asked Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian, like, 10 seconds before we were going to break, about the rumors that her father wasn\u2019t her father,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd I was so embarrassed because I felt, like, all this pressure. I had just started and I felt like the producers wanted me to ask this dishy question, but I didn\u2019t want to.\u201d<\/p>\n Guthrie said she attempted to avoid the question by keeping the conversation going \u201cuntil we were up against a hard break.\u201d She added, \u201cAt the very end, I\u2019m like, \u2018And Khlo\u00e9, what about this rumor that Robert Kardashian\u2019s not really your father?\u2019 And they were like, \u201910, nine, eight,\u2019 and I was so embarrassed. And she was such a class act, and she\u2019s like, \u2018Ah, nothing to it.’\u201d<\/p>\n Kardashian reacted to Guthrie\u2019s confession in the comments section of a Monday Instagram<\/a> post, writing, \u201cShe\u2019s a doll! It takes a big person to take accountability and I just love her!<\/p>\n \u2764<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \u2764<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \u2764<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \ufffd\ufffd<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \ufffd\ufffd<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \ufffd\ufffd<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \ufffd\ufffd<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n .\u201d<\/p>\n During Monday\u2019s fan Q&A segment, Melvin also shared the surprising career he would pursue if he were not on TV. \u201cProbably candle-making,\u201d he said, much to Cohen\u2019s surprise. \u201cIs that a lucrative career?\u201d Cohen questioned.<\/p>\n Melvin went on to explain, \u201cI have found so much peace and solace over the last few years, being in my garage pouring candles.\u201d<\/p>\n Daly praised his colleague\u2019s creative hobby, sharing, \u201cHe does make a nice candle.
