In October 2025, a man who looked and sounded exactly like the comedian joined TikTok<\/a> under the name Matt Taylor<\/strong> and began sharing videos about his life as an art teacher. (An Instagram account was also created with the same name.) Some of Taylor\u2019s videos even featured a classroom full of students and appeared to be filmed inside a school. Still, fans quickly grew suspicious that \u201cMatt Taylor\u201d was actually James, perhaps promoting a film or doing a side project \u00e0 la KJ Apa<\/strong> with his \u201cMr. Fantasy<\/a>\u201d bit.<\/p>\n

Who Is Matt Taylor?<\/h2>\n

Taylor introduced himself via TikTok as a 4th grade art teacher, although he has not shared any details about where he teaches. His bio reads, \u201c\ud83c\udfa8 Life\u2019s Messy. Art is Beautiful. Let\u2019s turn this Mess into a Masterpiece.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his first video, shared on October 15, 2025, Taylor showed viewers a bulletin board that read, \u201cReading gives your imagination wings.\u201d He then gave a passionate speech about art also empowering one\u2019s imagination, showing clips of his students working on their classroom projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt teaches you about life. It\u2019s not even about the art. It\u2019s about what you\u2019re bringing to it that creates the art,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In another video, Taylor encouraged viewers to think outside of the box, while a third clip showed him sitting at a desk and telling students to submit \u201cquestions about art.\u201d A fourth video showed Taylor painting a sunset on a canvas.<\/p>\n

Why Fans Think Matt Taylor Is Kevin James<\/h2>\n

Since he joined TikTok, Taylor\u2019s comments have been flooded with fans wondering if he\u2019s really James in (not much of a) disguise.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooks like Kevin James, sounds like Kevin James, same mannerisms as Kevin James,\u201d one person commented on one of Taylor\u2019s videos, while another user added, \u201cImagine his real name is Matt Taylor & his stage name is Kevin James \ud83d\ude33 & Matt is really an art teacher & Kevin is an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

People have even taken to James\u2019 account to joke about his connection to Taylor, with one fan commenting on a recent post, \u201cKind of looks like a younger version of my old art teacher Mr. Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n

One suspicious detail about Taylor\u2019s account that people noticed was the fact that he only follows one person \u2014 Ed Sheeran<\/strong>. Perhaps he\u2019s just a big fan of the \u201cShape of You\u201d singer?<\/p>\n

Other users pointed out that although Taylor\u2019s classroom videos may seem convincing, there\u2019s something off about them.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting that James does have a movie coming up in 2026 called Solo Mio<\/em>, in which he stars as a character named \u2014 you guessed it \u2014 Matt. Many fans are speculating that the TikTok account is an elaborate promo for the film.<\/p>\n
