Downtown San Antonio will be much busier than usual on Saturday with Day of the Dead celebrations taking place at the same time as Paul McCartney’s highly anticipated return to San Antonio. Here’s what you need to know about McCartney’s “Got Back” concert and getting around downtown.<\/p>\n

What is the ‘Got Back’ tour?<\/h2>\n

Paul McCartney has been on the road with his career-spanning “Got Back” tour since the spring of 2022. Saturday’s concert at the Alamodome will be his first time in San Antonio since he headlined the inaugural Tobin Center gala in 2014. Anyone who saw McCartney close “Saturday Night Live’s” recent 50th anniversary special in February knows he can still deliver.<\/p>\n

When does the Paul McCartney concert start?<\/h2>\n

The concert starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Alamodome. Doors open at 6\u00a0p.m., though the north H-E-B Plaza will open at 2 p.m. with entertainment and food and beverage sales. Alamodome officials advise fans to arrive early because of security\u00a0screenings at the venue entrance.<\/p>\n

Are tickets still available?<\/h2>\n

Several hundred seats, some with obstructed views, are still available at alamodome.com, with prices ranging from $64 to $469.<\/p>\n

How much is Alamodome parking?<\/h2>\n

Parking at the\u00a0Alamodome will cost $60, as it has for the past few big-name concerts. Lots B and C will open at 2 p.m., on a first-come, first-served, cashless basis. But concertgoers do not have to park at the ‘dome; they don’t even have to pay to get there. Here are some options:<\/p>\n

Park & Ride: <\/strong>With Paul\u00a0McCartney at the Alamodome and rival Day of the Dead festivals across South Alamo Street from each other, crowds – and traffic – on Saturday downtown are expected to rival those during Final Four weekend. “In total, the city is expecting more than 100,000 people downtown,” a spokesman for the Alamodome said via email.<\/p>\n

To make things run a little smoother, VIA’s Park & Ride service will be free from 3 p.m. to midnight Saturday, with service\u00a0available from Crossroads, 151 Crossroads Blvd.; Brooks Transit Center, 7903 S. New\u00a0Braunfels Ave.; and Frost Bank Center lots 6 and 7, 1 Frost Bank Center Drive. Service normally costs $2.60 round-trip. Riders will be dropped off at the Robert Thompson Transit Station adjacent to the Alamodome.<\/p>\n

Off-site parking: <\/strong>Concertgoers can reserve parking at more than 25 lots in advance through ParkWhiz. More downtown parking options can be found here. The downtown VIA bus route 100 also will be free through midnight to help people get from their parking spot to their final destination.<\/p>\n

Ride share: <\/strong>Drivers can drop off and pick up ride-share customers at Lot D, across Interstate 37 from the dome between Montana Street and Tower of the Americas Way. Free Park & Ride makes the Frost Bank Center a good ride-share destination, too.<\/p>\n

Is there an opening act?<\/h2>\n

There is no opening act on the “Got Back” tour. At 83,\u00a0McCartney is still typically playing for more than two hours, with songs on the set list dating back to the Quarrymen and covering the Beatles, Wings and solo hits.<\/p>\n
