But for Dan Truhitte, it seems like it was just yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s, a lot of deep feelings, you know,\u201d Truhitte said. \u201cAnd then the unbelievable realization that it was 60 years ago because it doesn&#8217;t seem like it.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"embedcode\"><center><\/p>\n<div class=\"keypointsbox\" style=\"text-align: left; width: 95%;\">\n<hr style=\"height: 2px; border-width: 0; background-color: #042d4d;\"\/>\n<h4 style=\"text-indent: 10px;\"><b>What You Need To Know<\/b><\/h4>\n<h5>\n<ul>\n<li>In his early 20s, Dan Truhitte starred in the musical classic &#8216;The Sound of Music&#8217; as the antagonist Rolfe Gruber<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Sixty years later, he still remembers fondly his memories making the film<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Now, Salty Earth Pictures has created a documentary film exploring Truhitte&#8217;s life and career in the entertainment industry<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>A special screening of the new documentary will be held on October 26 in Kannapolis, followed by a Q&amp;A session with Truhitte<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/h5>\n<hr style=\"height: 2px; border-width: 0; background-color: #042d4d;\"\/>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/center><br \/>\n<span class=\"remove-embeded\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Truhitte, who was in his early 20s at the time, played the antagonist, Rolfe Gruber in the film. He was the love interest of the von Trapp family\u2019s oldest daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to play that juvenile role as a virtual unknown was really incredible,\u201d Truhitte said. \u201cIt stayed with me all these 60 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even six decades after his career took off, he never minds telling people about his breakout role or the experience making the film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just can&#8217;t thank God enough for opening the door as he has for me,\u201d Truhitte said. \u201cOr my parents, who took all the time to take me to all those classes and all that training.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s that love for the arts, and his love for &#8220;The Sound of Music&#8221; that inspired filmmaker Steve Zambo, with Salty Earth Pictures, to spend the last two years putting together a documentary on Truhitte\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<div class=\"data-image-wrapper img-hash-fed3f9a4-db65-415e-8280-f5a3e8205a89 hashed-image caption-container image right percent-fifty wrap\" contenteditable=\"false\" style=\"display: inline-block; position: relative;\"><\/p>\n<p>Dan Truhitte plays &#8220;Edelweiss&#8221; from &#8220;The Sound of Music&#8221; in his home. (Spectrum News 1\/Courtney Davis)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe were able then to assemble this hourlong documentary about not only his life during \u2018The Sound of Music,&#8217; which was quite fascinating, but also his life before,\u201d Zambo said. \u201cAnd then, what Dan, aka Ralph, has been doing since. So it&#8217;s, it&#8217;s been exciting, and I think people will really enjoy getting to know Daniel Truhitte out of the gazebo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Truhitte, he\u2019s just honored to share the film with his community, friends and family, including his six children and 13 grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was thrilled and excited about it because I wanted my family to see all that I&#8217;ve seen and gone and done,\u201d Truhitte said. \u201cYou know, and have it for them forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And he hopes his story continues to not only inspire his family, but the next generation of fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cannot thank God enough for the life that I&#8217;ve had and the friendship and the love and the family and all of that,\u201d Truhitte said. \u201cI&#8217;ve just been a blessed man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Truhitte is hosting a special screening of the documentary, &#8220;A Life of Music, the Daniel Truhitte Story&#8221; in Kannapolis on Sunday at the Gem Theater.<\/p>\n<p>The screening will be followed by a Q&amp;A session after the showing.<\/p>\n<p>The event is being sponsored by Ivy and Oak Events and tickets are free to the public.
