Judd Apatow<\/b> is looking back \u2014 and laughing \u2014 at how quickly fame changed everything for his old roommate, Adam Sandler<\/b>.<\/p>\n
According to People<\/i><\/a>, the 57-year-old filmmaker recalled the moment Sandler<\/a>, now 59, scored his life-changing role on Saturday Night Live<\/i><\/a> \u2014 and promptly packed up.<\/p>\n \u201cOne day he said, \u2018I\u2019m going to go audition for Saturday Night Live<\/i>,\u2019\u201d recalled Apatow. \u201cAnd then the next day he said, \u2018I got it.\u2019 Then he left me alone in the apartment.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, the pair were struggling stand-up comics in Los Angeles, grinding out jokes and late-night improv sets.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all knew Adam was going to make it,\u201d Apatow said. \u201cHe was just remarkably funny to be around.\u201d<\/p>\n Sandler joined SNL<\/i> as a writer in 1990 and became a cast member the following year, while Apatow pivoted to being behind the camera \u2014 eventually becoming one of Hollywood\u2019s most influential comedy producers, with hits like The 40-Year-Old Virgin<\/i> and Trainwreck<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/staging.nationalenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/MEGA1025521_001-scaled.jpg\")
