Dax Shepard<\/strong> made an off-color joke about domestic violence long before his wife Kristen Bell<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s controversial<\/a> faux pas.<\/p>\n In a video interview with SheKnows<\/em><\/a> for their 2012 movie Hit and Run<\/em> that recently resurfaced, the couple \u2014 who were still dating at the time \u2014 talk about the first time Bell, now 45, rode in Shepard\u2019s beloved car after it had been restored.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was so excited. We drove to brunch and the first thing I said, five minutes into the ride, I said, \u2018This sounds like it\u2019s gonna break,\u2019\u201d the Nobody Wants This<\/em> actress said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I was very offended,\u201d the Parenthood<\/em> alum, now 50, jokes. \u201cAnd then I hit her several times.\u201d<\/p>\n The Veronica Mars<\/em> alum then quips, \u201cAnd then I got beat up, and guess what \u2014 I never opened my mouth again.\u201d<\/p>\n As Star<\/em> previously reported, followers slammed<\/a> Bell for her \u201ctone deaf\u201d Instagram post<\/a> on Saturday, October 18, in which she wished a \u201chappy 12th anniversary to the man who once said to me: \u2018I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point.
