practice with their children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst thing I do when I wake up in the morning is turn the music on in the house,\u201d she shared Wednesday, during a chat with close friend Courtney Adamo at the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.godmothers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Godmothers Bookstore<\/a> in Montecito, Calif.<\/p>\n<p>Markle added that she even takes a portable speaker when traveling, along with a scented candle, so that she can play music and create a positive environment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Meghan Markle shared some of the sweet at-home rituals she and Prince Harry practice with their kids. <span uses with her kids \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" 4<\/a> \u2014 is the \u201crose and thorn\u201d ritual, to elicit more than a \u201cyes-or-no\u201d response to a question.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Markle also uses a technique called the \u201crose and thorn\u201d to get her kids to say more than just \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Alexi blast.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another ritual she and Prince Harry share with their children is the \u201chealing blanket,\u201d which was a gift from the bookstore\u2019s co-founder, Victoria Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>When one of the children isn\u2019t feeling well, they reach out for the \u201chealing blanket\u201d to comfort them.<\/p>\n<p>Markle first met Adamo in college, where they were in the same sorority at Northwestern University.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Markle chatted with close friend Courtney Adamo to she and Adamo were supposed to fly back to Chicago from Los Angeles on 9\/11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the two of us ended up driving 30 hours over three days. 10 hours a day.
