Check it out below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Poppy - Unravel (Official Visualizer)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JxlnKVj2IWA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Earlier this week, Poppy\u00a0shared a fierce cover of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/wham\">Wham<\/a>!\u2019s festive classic, \u2018Last Christmas\u2019, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/poppy-shares-fierce-cover-of-whams-festive-banger-last-christmas-produced-by-jordan-fish-3899439\">also produced by Jordan Fish.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The cover was performed as part of a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/tag\/spotify\">Spotify<\/a> session and was shared by Fish, who described it as a \u201cbanger\u201d before adding: \u2018Christmas came early\u201d. The track is a heavy guitar-filled rendition of the 1984 Christmas classic that includes some emotive, stripped-back harmonies towards the end.<\/p>\n<p>Poppy worked with Fish on her sixth album, \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/poppy-announces-new-album-negative-spaces-with-brutal-single-theyre-all-around-us-3796382\">Negative Spaces\u2019<\/a>, and described him as <i>\u201c<\/i>such a creative force\u201d during an interview with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-features\/poppy-interview-negative-spaces-jordan-fish-3812948\"><em>NME<\/em> in 2024.<\/a> Poppy added: \u201cJordan is very good at tracking performance\u2026We both have an appreciation for heavy music and more saccharine pop music. I think the commonalities in our tastes unite for this record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fish also <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-features\/jordan-fish-production-interview-bring-me-the-horizon-poppy-architects-3823576\">spoke to\u00a0<em>NME\u00a0<\/em><\/a>previously about his work with Poppy on \u2018Negative Spaces\u2019, the first full-length album released that he produced in its entirety.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Poppy on her new album &#039;Zig, working with Ali Payami and her Lego collection\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F4OHP8hdn_I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u201cPoppy wanted to do big rock songs, which I can do, I guess,\u201d he told us. \u201cShe started off doing this erratic, genre-shifty music\u2026it\u2019s not really my expertise to constantly change tempo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my mind, she hadn\u2019t really put together a body of work that felt super coherent, so that was the challenge \u2013 putting her lyrics and flavour over more conventional song structures.
