\n\tTo celebrate the release of her debut solo studio album, Halle Bailey<\/a> gets strikingly honest in the latest episode of Billboard\u2019s Takes Us Out<\/em> video series.<\/p>\n \n\tThe six-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter took Billboard\u2019s<\/em> Tetris Kelly out to H.O.P.E. (Healthy Organic Positive Eating) in Studio City, Calif., where the pair dug into a spread of some of Halle\u2019s favorite vegan bites. While conversing over spring rolls and green curry dumplings, the pair discussed The Little Mermaid<\/em>, accepting the Billboard Women in Music Rising Star Award in 2020, her first love, working with Mariah the Scientist and GloRilla<\/a>, and Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>\u2018s reaction to her debut solo album, Love?\u2026 Or Something Like It.<\/em><\/p>\n \n\tReleased on Friday (Oct. 24) via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, Halle\u2019s new LP features collaborations with Chl\u00f6e<\/a>, Mariah the Scientist<\/a>, GloRilla and H.E.R.<\/a>, as well as the previously released singles \u201cAngel,\u201d \u201cBecause I Love You,\u201d \u201cIn Your Hands,\u201d \u201cBraveface\u201d and \u201cBack and Forth.\u201d Notable cowriters and producers include RAYE<\/a>, D. Phelps, Freaky Rob, Sevyn Streeter, BongoByTheWay, and, of course, Bailey herself.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI hear my sister on so many songs, I think it\u2019s the way my brain is wired,\u201d she tells Billboard<\/em>. \u201cI hear her, I hear what she can add, like, \u2018She would be good on this; she would be good on that!\u2019 When it came to our song \u2018Feel Again,\u2019 I was like, \u2018I cannot do this song without Chl\u00f6e, I need to hear her on this.\u2019 My sister is a freakin\u2019 cool musical genius; she travels with her equipment. She can record wherever she is because she brings all her s\u2014t with her.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAnd if there\u2019s been one constant in Halle\u2019s life as she navigates the music industry \u2014 outside of her sister \u2014 it\u2019s Beyonc\u00e9, the music icon who mentored the sibling duo and signed them to her Parkwood label.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI played this one for [Beyonc\u00e9] too,\u201d Halle reveals. \u201cAnd she was obsessed with hearing our voices again together.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe new record arrives as Halle\u2019s first full-length solo offering since her sister duo of Chloe x Halle took a hiatus following the release of 2020\u2019s breakthrough Ungodly Hour<\/em> album. As her older sister embarked on a career that has yielded two solo albums and buzzy music videos, Halle focused on bringing Princess Ariel to life in the 2023 live-action remake of The Little Mermaid<\/em>, securing safety and stability<\/a> for her son Halo (whom she shares with ex DDG), and figuring out her solo sound<\/a>.<\/p>\n
